Kalifa hummed softly as she walked along with Paulie, the group of foreman had dragged her and Iceberg along for their usual tavern run and she had taken the opportunity to speak with Bluno in regards to any updates on his end. They were on their way back to their homes for the night and Kalifa was shivering slightly due to the chill in the air.

A small surprised sound left her when Paulie wrapped his jacket around her, the warmth from it seeping into her quickly. "You're not getting this back until I'm home." She whispered to him, not wanting to draw attention to them from the others.

He still wasn't sure if it had been a wise idea to allow Captain Hook's daughter to accompany them. While it was true that they were both looking for the same pirate crew and both wished to help those that they searched for, there was more. A darker hidden danger that hunted Lumi outside of the politically official reason that he was the face of.

The imperial family wanted her dead.

Glancing down from where he was standing on the upper deck of the ship he'd been given for finding Lumi he watched Hook's daughter for a long moment before sighing and turning his face towards the moon. He knew what his princess's orders would be without her even being here.

Guard her with your life, Hao Tian.

Water poured from her mouth as her lungs expelled the seawater violently from her body. What little strength she had left used up in rolling to the side on instinct to prevent herself from choking. Long snow-white hair plastered to her face and drenched clothing, the braids that usually kept it back from her facing having long since given way to the elements.

She'd had no choice. This time the ninja sent after her had waited until they were at sea to corner her. The fact that she hadn't noticed them a fact that stung at her pride, or at least would later once she was no longer feeling like a drowned rat. Now she was just thankful she'd survived, her devil fruit once more the reason why she'd been able to kill her attackers. Though the ship had stood no chance against the storm, especially without a crew.

Finally managing to get a somewhat of a breath she raised dark eyes towards the form the feet in her vision belonged to. Chest heaving in more gulps of blessed oxygen before her eyes widened upon discovering just who had pulled her out of the sea's deadly embrace.

He'd spent months tracking Lumi. The time taking longer then he'd liked since he'd also spent that time taking down several of the ninja that had been sent after her by her own parents. A fact that had him cursing the very heavens after each battle.

There had been rumors of course, stories he'd been told growing up of the secret ninjas that were said to come from his home. Yet they had been just that. Rumors and legends. Learning the truth had changed him in a way he was still learning. A way that he doubted he'd fully understand until he found the princess he was sworn to protect.

Slipping into the tavern and out of the rain he pushed back the cowel of his cloak before his gaze swept over the room. Easily marking entrances and exits before lifting to inspect the rafters above. Only then did his gaze drop back down to the female that had suddenly appeared before him. "Sorry, I missed that?"

Hand lifting he shoved a thumb over his shoulder and added. "Its as if the heavens are trying to bring down the sky out there."

It was rare that her mother allowed her to travel so far without an escort. Usually, at least one or two of her brothers would have been sent with her since unlike so many of her siblings she had no fighting skills. All she had was nimble flexibility and her sugar to protect her. Yet, here she was, somehow pulled into the little beach party of the pirate crew that had given her no choice but to join them after she'd made cotton candy for their doctor. "There's nothing like being in the kitchen. Whenever I'm not happy or trying to think something through I always find myself making some sort of desert."

"You didn't listen to a word of the plan did you." He deadpanned, practically glaring at Luffy before looking around to the rest of the crew and then back to their captain. Honestly, he wasn't even sure why he even bothered coming up with a plan at this point. They always ruined them anyway, though somehow it turned out fine in the end. Which was honestly more headache-inducing than anything.

Pinching his nose he added, muttering to himself under his breath. "I could probably tell you my darkest secret and you wouldn't listen."

"I'm not adding oregano you old shit bag." The words were thrown out like a reflex even as he sighed, knowing full well that if Zeff wanted to add it he'd find a way. He'd even caught the old man adding it to soup stock he'd the other day to ensure that it wasn't, as he claimed, forgotten. Honestly, what was his obsession with that damn spice anyways? It had its uses but he treated it like fucking salt.

He blinked, looking down at what his brother was offering him and then blinked again at the sight of a tiger tooth. It looked oddly familiar to the one he'd taken from the tiger they'd defeated as kids and lost right after setting sail......."Wait a second....."

Narrowing his gaze he then flicked his gaze back up to Luffy. "You've had this all along haven't you?" Shaking his head he pushed his brother's hand back as a fond smile filled his lips. "Just keep it, you idiot."
