Sometimes you just know something special is going on. I took this picture in 2016 right after the presidential election. Later i found that the beautiful lady on the right was none other than now 96 year old #susiepiper last principal of Austin’s black school and long time austin civil rights activist. She had to pay 1.75 in order to vote!! See how you can contribute to this ongoing Austin Protests Exhibit! . @austinpubliclibrary is seeking out submissions for their latest exhibit, Taking it to the Streets: A Visual History of Protest and Demonstration in Austin, by contributing your photographs, present or past, of protests or demonstrations that have taken place here in Austin. Your submission will be featured in a digital display in the Holt Gallery at the Library’s Austin History Center through October 28, 2018. @Austinhistorycenter #APLambassador . . . . . . #austin #austinhistory #austinblackhistory #civilrights #righttovote #civilliberties #texashistory #austinprotest #womensrights #equalrights #austinpubliclibrary #blackhistorymonth #texastreasures #nationaltreasure #livelove #blessed #austinblogger #texasblogger #proudtoserve (at Round Rock, Texas)
