One retronym that is used daily is the analog and digital clocks. Before the digital clock came to be invented the analog clock was the only clock they had. a clock was a clock. then the digital clock came along and now we must differentiate between which one we are referring to.

My retronym is Metal.
In the very beginning there was really only metal, however over time there have been many variations of this such as
hair metal
progressive metal
tech metal
death metal
Even though they're all under the classification of "metal," there are still distinctions between all of them.

So my retronym is the Original Google, because in the olden days, Original Google was simply Google but now Google has multiple extensions, from Google earth, to Google finance, Google is pretty cool. My retronym is a book and a ebook. Originally, there were only physical books but now that technology has evolved there are ebooks. The definition of a book is a written or printed work of nonfiction or fiction while an ebook is a printed or written work in digital form.
PATA (or Parallel Advanced Technology Attachment, represented by the blue connector) was originally called just ATA (or the Advanced Technology Attachment) until the better SATA connector (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) came along (represented by the red cable). Both of these connectors are used for transfering data from hard drives, solid state drives, optical drives and floppy drives to a motherboard inside of a computer. To make manners more complicated PATA is also called IDE.

Definition/Explanation: The word bar soap is necessary for deciphering between the original form of soap and the new form of soap. Soap was originally in the form of a solid; hence it could be formed into a bar or other shapes. In recent times scientists have created soap in the form of a liquid. It is necessary that people in this era use the term “bar soap” or “liquid soap” so that their audience knows what kind of soap they are talking about. The two kinds of soap have different components and different people may prefer one to the other. A benefit to bar soap that many bar soap advocates would claim is that many bar soaps contain glycerin, which prevents eczema.

The Retronym that I have selected is camera as apposed to a digital camera. until the innovation of the digital camera all camera's were just called a camera.
