To Preserve Humanity the Government sealed all humans in Containment Pods, to be released once the earth was sustainable again. Every 100 years, 100 people are unsealed and let to live our their lives. Kathrine (AKA Kat) Clove was one of these people. She is released 1000 years after the "Day of Preservation" to find out that her family was one of the first zones to be released, and she is the last. Her family long dead, and now completely alone, Kat finds out that she is special, an "Injected" and has certain powers she needs to unlock in order to protect her people and preserve humanity. Which, surprisingly, is not as easy as it sounds....
