American Occult - Crowley Disciple Jack Parsons & Devil's Gate Dam (HD .
This is a great apocryphal tale about the NASA rocket scientist and occultist Jack Parsons. I love the portrayal of Parsons as a mad scientist.

The trouble with Julius Caesar was his insistence on being called by his second name. If it was a good day, he’d just correct you to “Caesar” if you called him anything else, but on a bad day, he’d have you flogged for forgetting.
So when his stablemen came rushing in saying, “Sir, sir, Julius, your best mare is escaping,”
he replied, “seize her!”
and they were all so busy apologising in order not to get flogged, that the mare escaped.

I Think I Cracked the Cold, Part 1
Eureka! After several weeks of furrowed brow and deep, scientific contemplation plus plenty of frustrating and enlightening conversations with Americans and Moldovans alike, I think I get it. Cold stuff does indeed play a part in getting a cold. But it is not the cause. The reason why it has any effect on one's health in Moldova specifically is because everything is coated in the germs to begin with. I have never been as sick anywhere else as I am here. For several years running, the only time I suffered from any illness was my yearly contraction of Strep Throat. Something about being a carrier and peeled fingertips.
Yet in Moldova I have found myself, at various points, hovered over a toiled in colonical pain, curled up in bed with exhausted stomach and intestines/rectum cramps, mind-bending headaches, dam-like sinus draining, and blood-tasty coughs. Finally, I have cracked why I have gotten a cold at least 10 times here. Because my life exists in a CDC nightmare of germs. People snort and blow all over the place, wipe their noses with bare hands, cough without the slightest effort to deflect the bullets of illness, and generally ignore all of the practical health precautions that I grew up with in America. I hardly ever see soap in bathrooms, or if I do they are usually full. The towels... I think the water-boys of most NFL teams would weep at the brown rag they call a hand towel.
It is, indeed, likely that you will catch a cold if you don't cover your head, your neck, your legs/arms/body in layers of clothing. Drinking cold water will make you sick, touching cold stuff with bare feet will also do so. But not because these objects are merely cold. Because you are perpetually sitting on a razor's edge battle with the germs inside you. The merest alteration in your body's temperature will send you into a spiral of illness that puts entire classes out of commission, that causes vodka-rubdowns to become a family affair, and that causes babies to become miniature Say-Puff men.
I get it now. These things do cause cold. Because I am covered in the stuff. I recently got some hand sanitizer from home and have started using it. Just the other day, I was outside for ~30 minutes in shorts. I did so deliberately to test my theory. And so far it is true. I made sure my body was as clean as it is in America, then braved the world Moldova has presented me. I sit here today a healthy man. Not because I took shots of vodka, or ate tons of garlic and onions, or even drank hot drinks. But because I was clean.
