I hate everything. So I was Twitter and a children hospital in Canada (I can’t remember which) stated they were lifting their mask mandate. Which is obviously terrible. But the real kicker is them saying “if you are sick, stay home”. And it’s like nigga you’re the fucking hospital. You know where sick, injured and/or disabled people go?! I don’t know stats for kids in neither the us nor Canada. But I do know here, Covid is the biggest (disease) causes of deaths for children in the us. And the third largest after heart disease and cancer for adults.
I have not done of these in a minute. But way less people are masks at my job. People (costumers and workers) are always coming in sick as shit. It’s also so fun /s when people are like “oh I’m quarantining right now but I got bored”. I’m going to screaming this to the end of the time. Because this shit is not going to get better because protecting people (including sick pay) hurts the economy or whatever capitalist drivel. And like in general I am fighting the cdc one day. And it’s funny because the cdc directed recently got covid and was out 18 days. And not even like tweeting/working at home to boost morale or whatever. Like radio silence for 18 days. But the rest of us at best get 5 fucking days. When people still test positive on day 6.

So I do recommend reading the full article. But in short this new bill heavily criminalizes protest. Depending on your changes, peacefully protesting can get you up to 15 years in jail. You can receive a third degree felony. Which means you won’t be able to vote, can’t receive government assistance like unemployment or food stamps. Also this bill sets up legal precedence for instances of when people run over protesters.
So this is fucking terrible to put it lightly. And like this part of the reason the distinction of peaceful and violent protest is a moot point. Like beyond mass disenfranchisement like this will lead to many people losing government assistance in the middle of a pandemic. Also Covid like most diseases reeks havoc in prisons. And regardless of how long this lasts do not forget prisoners in your activism.
I don’t live in Florida so I don’t s have a full rundown of DeSantis’s crimes. But like I remember last year when he sent cops to intimidate a scientist who was trying to show that the government was severely underreporting cases. And cops came guns a drawn to her home late at night. Like I want to watch the video, go for it but it was extremely uncomfortable to watch. Which I’m not linking it, if I remember correctly her kids were there too, it was terrible. This country Covid response is was in general horrible, but Florida was a whole nother level. And allegedly they have 2 million which about 10% but who knows who accurate that is.

I’ll try make a more concise post later. But the fact that these pharmaceutical companies are outright denying exploited countries vaccine/ material and/or making them go through such fucking hoops is nothing short of a crime against humanity. There are total of around 147,000,000 Covid cases works wide and over 3 million deaths. And in India in particular their death rate is rapidly increasing because they are suffering an oxygen shortage. Like people are suffering and dying because of fucking money. Like in general capitalism needs to end as in runs on human suffering. But these companies in particular should be not allowed to exist.

Also “cancel culture” doesn’t fucking exist for the trillionth time. And especially when I see like celebrities say shit about it, I’m like “oh they did something reckless”. And I’ll be right.
While I’m on this, Monsanto among other companies should have been destroyed years ago for producing* Agent Orange during the Vietnam war. And the profits given to survivors. Agent Orange continues to this harm people in Vietnam. It still polluted their water supplies, harms local fauna and flora. And I hate that at least when I was in middle school that scare around Monsanto was dubious fear of GMOs* and not this shit. GMO’s are never inherently good or bad but this particular scare unscientific fearmongering. And not (I think Monsanto or at least similar companies) would sell farmers seeds that engineered to not germate the next year/ less effectively so they would have to buy more/ but every year.
*Yes I fully get that the military paid them to do and it should also be destroyed and scrapped for parts.
