About the chunky retired Scott ask you just answered… literally AAAGES ago I read a fic (don’t ask me which one) that mentioned retired NHL players tend to develop huge beer bellies after retirement… and like hey, that means it’s only natural :) Most of them just have a hard time adjusting to not burning like 6000 calories a day multiple times a week and still eat like an athlete but indulge in beers too :) And Shane and Ilya retire a few years after Scott does and visit Kingfisher and the three of them just point at each other like omfg you too??
WAIT I KNOW WHAT ONE is it Honey-Soaked by ryeoats? There's a whole couple passages in there in the second chapter out retired athletes ending up with big hard beer guts and how Shane hasn't gained weight like that bc he's just gaining soft fat and then Shane eats a whole pot of soup and Ilya's like "wow now it looks like he has a beer gut but it's just soup because he has no self control and ate a whole pot of soup just because he wanted to"? Can you tell I think about that chapter a lot? Even if that's not the fic you're talking about, same deal same deal.
