 Richter hears his own voice tremble.  Hears the unsure murmur, and he watches the eyes in front of his own carefully, both figures perfectly still until the dagger in his breast twists and-- there's the crimson he was searching for, but it's spewing from between his teeth instead.

  Hacking, he covers his mouth, his legs trembling as he steps back, away from Emil, his dagger embedded in the swordsman's chest all the way to the hilt.
