Apostrophe Shepard!!
Pros/cons of dating your Femshep and/or Dragonborn?
oh boy WHERE DO I START I didn’t actually expect anyone to ask me this
pros of dating Apostrophe Shepard:
relatively inexperienced at dating and is easily impressed
you can just get her anything purple and she’ll like it
very good listener
easily distracted by vaguely-prothean round reflective objects
cons:
if everything about a romantic moment isn’t *just perfect* she’ll hate it
extremely unconfident and not a huge fan of trying out new things. she may refuse to go out on a date not because she doesn’t like you but because she’s 99% sure she doesn’t want to try out a new activity
easily distracted by vaguely-prothean round reflective objects
pros of dating Fiona Snowstrider:
can defend herself in a swordfight
will shoot down things for you with a bow if you want them (acorns, fruits, etc)
never feels the cold so she’ll never ask you for a coat
cons:
needs to be constantly active - travelling, honing a sword, organising her potions alphabetically - can’t sit still
never feels the cold so you can’t put your arm around her with the excuse of “you must be cold”
[send me an OC and I’ll give you the pros and cons of dating them]
Also I've forgotten her name, but your main Fem@Shep for the OC meme?
That’s okay I’ve spent a lot of time on them and I get them mixed up too! Main is Apostrophe Shepard (yes, I know, it’s a TERRIBLE first name). War Hero, Engineer, Paragon.
01. Full name: Apostrophe Shepard.
02. Best friend:
She keeps to herself a lot, but this probably used to be Garrus. Garrus understands her non-verbally at times (this was basically their entire mode of operation during some earlier missions with him soon after picking him up from Omega where she wore blue armour to support him), and being an engineer her usual approach is to request Garrus shoot things at range that she can’t reach.
Lately however she’s become closer to Javik. Maybe it’s cos he’s a bit of a loner, too; or maybe it’s because he prefers to touch things (cannons, drones, omni-blades) to get a handle on them instead of starting out by asking people how they work. This has happened partially because Shepard has become attached to the prothean relic she found on Kopis, which she talks to quite a bit, and which responds to her questions by glowing and sometimes wobbling.
03. Sexuality:
She tells herself she’s straight. She’s not. (but she appreciates how pretty her female friends are too. Kelly usually had her stammering, turning pink and saying “I should go” slightly more loudly than necessary.)
04. Favorite color:
Purple. If she can’t get away with wearing it in a camo print then she’ll put it as the stripe on her epaulette thingies.
Apostrophe’s eyes were originally a luminous purple in 2183, a combination of genetics (her eyes being naturally slightly purple but mostly blue) and radiation bleaching from doing zero-atmosphere combat exercises during N7 training.
During the events of Mass Effect 2, Apostrophe’s eyes are blue. (The picture above does bring out the purple quite well.)
Replicating Shepard’s eye colour perfectly was not exactly a priority of Project Lazarus, and the Illusive Man (and Shepard’s squadmates) kept Apostrophe on-task and focused on building up a team to take on the Collectors, but once Shepard was taken to Earth for the hearing regarding Aratoht, she was able to put in a request for some personal items including hair dye. Thus we see her at the start of the Reaper War in Vancouver with purple hair to reflect the eye colour that she had lost
without which she feels kinda strange. On a related note, she initially chose a colour scheme reminiscent of the old 2183 Colossus models for her new armour. (”What do you mean they don’t make Colossus armour anymore?” she asks Joker. He shrugs and gives her the email address of the Kassa Fabrication armour division but tells her not to get her hopes up.)
05. Relationship status:
Single and ready to… avoid any and all questions regarding hooking up with anyone on the Normandy. She’s very awkward and not good with physical or emotional intimacy. She’s also aware that, as of 2186, her friends and crew have been broken up and scattered to the quadrants of the galaxy twice, and she’s still not sure how to deal with that.
06. Ideal mate
In terms of friend? Someone who understands that she addresses her close friends without using their names. Someone who understands that she has touch starvation, but only likes to be touched by certain people and a certain way.
In terms of romantic partner - she idealizes a lot of interactions and if things aren’t perfect when they happen, be it spontaenously or planned between her and someone else, then she’ll get upset and think it’s all rubbish. She needs someone who isn’t awkward and is patient (but also passionate), because she is awkward as hell.
07. Turn-ons:
Knowing how to use heavy sniper rifles well, a skill she doesn’t herself have. Also, knowing how to use submachine guns, which are her weapon of choice according to Cerberus operating procedures. This is less of an issue by 2186, where she’s bought herself the Black Widow.
08. Favorite food:
Salmon, which is not a particularly common item found in standard Alliance ration packs.
09. Crushes:
Kelly, and also Javik.
She… may also have a thing for Legion.
10. Favorite music:
Anything synth, but slow and relaxing. Includes, for example, the currently most popular quiet version of adagio for strings
11. Biggest fear:
Being set adrift again - commanding the Normandy and being able to rely upon the family she found in its crew allowed her to find her place in the universe.
When she was escorted off the Normandy by Vega and a couple of burly marines, the only things she was allowed to take were her medal of honour stashed inside her original wrecked N7 helmet, and the prothean relic inside a Citadel Souvenirs shopping bag. She doesn’t want to have to find her literal quiet place of peace (her cabin) again.
12. Biggest fantasy:
Having biotic powers. She tried out Reave one (1) time and it looked So Pretty
She told herself that being an Engineer is supposed to be the best since you can hack almost anything, and anything worth keeping safe is protected by technology, or at least people carrying big guns with computer chips inside them. But having seen her biotic squadmates in action… there is definitely something to how pure and useful a biotic slam or throw can be.
13. Bad habits:
Chatting to computers, drones, and things that aren’t people, for way too long. Also, shooting at anyone else’s drone that isn’t hers, up to and including Tali’s drone.
Here she is getting surprised by EDI (an AI? aboard MY Normandy?) at the start of ME2.
14. Biggest regret:
Not smooching the LT before Virmire.
it’s less a romantic thing and more just being close to your friends and telling them how you feel before it’s too late. That you value them and love them deeply even if not romantically, and you want the best for them. That you care for them.
15. Best kept secrets:
Secretly she has to stop herself from picking some renegade interrupts. It’s very very tempting
16. Last thought:
-Standing at one of the shops on the Presidium- “Do I have enough creds to get this power-enhancing scope? Do I NEED the power enhancing scope? Nothing works as a direct counter to Javik’s Dark Channel and I bring him along to most missions. If I don’t buy that… will I be able to save up to upgrade the Black Widow? Even though Garrus might laugh at me cos I’m not expert with sniper rifles….”
17. Worst romantic experience:
None?! She hasn’t really had any. She spent the night before Ilos alone. She spent the night before the run on the Collectors base alone.
18. Biggest insecurity:
Basically, having to talk to people to get things done. This is her “I’m talking to Admiral Hackett, but on the inside I’m screaming” face:
19. Weapon of choice:
In 2185: M-12 Locust submachinegun.
In 2186: Black Widow III paired with a Shuriken V machine pistol. WIth both modded with ultralight materials she gets 111% recharge speed which is essential for her using her powers and her drone.
20. Role Model:
Samara. Apostrophe respects her quiet strength and what must be a lonely existence, travelling from place to place, only owning armour and a pistol. She spends a lot of time talking to Samara when she’s on the Normandy and it’s from her that she learned Reave, which is an impressive feat considering that she’s never had any innate biotic abilities.
[ask me about my OCs]
(doing a kinda retrospective thing since Mass Effect Andromeda is coming out so soon. clicky on the pictures)
Shep #4, Apostrophe Shepard. Engineer, Paragon to the max, introverted and struggles with social interactions. more info here. yes she’s the one who let us find out what Javik’s actual disgusted face looks like.
I’m not ready to let go of Shepard in favour of Mass Effect Andromeda quite yet
