WeChat has become the most popular social software in China today. From 2011 to 2018, there were more than 1 billion active users worldwide, with a market share of 93% in mainland China. At the same time, the opening of WeChat Pay has given people another way to pay.

This is the most used app in my daily life. The design of the interface is simple, easy to use, and suitable for all ages. Even the elderly can use it proficiently after being familiar, without many impractical functions. All functions are very close to people's lives, and meet the user habits.

The use of green in the color gives people a relaxed, yet formal feeling. It is one of the apps that people cannot lack in daily life.

This is a very hot app among young people in China, you can share a variety of food, travel, hairstyles, manicures, makeup and so on. I brush the app almost every day, and the page is designed to be a bit like a one-piece sticker, just like Pinterest, with lush graphics and strong readability.

But now there are a lot of people who use this to advertise on it and mislead consumers, and I think that's where the app needs to be pay more attention on meanwhile the app can also buy things, at first to the market at a more favorable price but the effect is not very good, many people question the true and false these products.

I went to visit the company. The manager told us that from the beginning, they just can do all the technology development and page design in a small room, and now there is an office building in downtown Shanghai, we can see that the app catch the user's psychology carefully.

Existing apps with word ‘Foodie’

Most of the foodie app was recipe sharing app or if not it was restaurant finding app. Meal Sharable app wasn’t named foodie.

Last week, Tap pointed out to us an organization that's focusing on developing apps that make cell phones running Android more secure - they're designed to help activists and journalists but could be used for anyone who's concerned about the privacy and security of cell phones.

A variety of tools are being developed - secure chat, remote wipes, firewalls among others. Check them out!

FearSquare

Interesting new service: Fearsquare. UK only, unfortunately, or I'd have to go try it out right now. 

It takes your Foursquare checkin data and cross references it with a crime statistics database to tell you your "FearPoints". This is a research study to see how this kind of personalized data could change user behavior, but it's an interesting approach, reminiscent of "PleaseRobMe".

Some controversial apps in the Apple App Store are getting attention from some US Senators because they aren't happy that there's an app that encourages people to avoid DUI checkpoints.

I'm not sure what the exact guidelines are but last year, Apple revised its review guidelines and clearly stated that they would not accept apps that "encourage excessive consumption of alcohol or illegal substances, or encourage minors to consume alcohol or smoke cigarettes." 

We'll try to avoid that!
