I started reading Hillbilly Elegy last night, as many of you know, and as I read Vance’s memories of summers spent in a holler in Kentucky, a very crisp scene formed in my mind. It’s a moment that could’ve come straight from my life, but doesn’t. I’m going to write it out and see where it takes me. Here’s hoping I can create my own little #appalachiangothic story.
