youve lost interest in ted lasso, is it ok to ask why? was there a specific thing that turned you off or just generally lost interest?
Of course, anon!
I'm popping this behind a cut though because I know a lot of my mutuals + people who follow me still love the show a lot, and I don't want to be a dick.
I haven't been able to watch Ted Lasso yet because I don't have a subscription so I've been piecing it together through gif sets and I agree. As much as I love angst, there's something about a couple that's loved each other for well, a lifetime that gets me straight in the feels.
Ooof, anon! Y.e.s. I think it's one of the reasons Ruby and Stan hit me in such a sweet spot too (or well, Ruby and Stan before Stan got in his s4 feelings) – a relationship that's lived in and complicated but built on so much mutual love and trust is both absolutely magic and tragically rare for TV.
The Higgins' in Ted Lasso are sort of on the peripheral of the story, but I love the way they're this touchstone for the series overall in the way that they really embody the show's approach to relationships broadly, professionally, platonically and romantically. They're not perfect, but the foundation of their relationship is one of kindness, support, respect and love, and they use it to draw so many interesting parallels and connections. It's really lovely, and the fact that the actors who play them are married in real life just makes it extra special.
