The flavors of apple and cinnamon come together in these delicious bite-sized fried donuts called Cinnamon Sugar Apple Donut Holes. They're a great option for dessert or as a snack.
Ingredients: 1 cup all-purpose flour. 1/4 cup granulated sugar. 1 1/2 tsp baking powder. 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon. 1/4 tsp salt. 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce. 1/4 cup milk. 1 egg. 1/2 tsp vanilla extract. 2 cups vegetable oil for frying. 1/2 cup granulated sugar for coating. 1 tsp ground cinnamon for coating. 1 apple, finely diced for filling.
Instructions: In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, baking powder, 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon, and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together the applesauce, milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until well combined. Fold in the finely diced apple. In a heavy-bottomed pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350F 175C for frying. Using a small scoop or spoon, carefully drop spoonfuls of the dough into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove the donut holes from the oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate. In a shallow bowl, combine the remaining 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 1 tsp ground cinnamon for coating. While the donut holes are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until evenly coated. Serve the Cinnamon Sugar Apple Donut Holes warm and enjoy!
