FINALLY, it is feeling like fall.
In honour of that, my man & I decided to go apple picking this weekend.
Take a moment to note the strange perversion of this sign on how to pick apples....its so suggestive.. so weird... Anyway, in light of the plethora of apples that are now under my care..
Things to do when you have TOO MANY APPLES:
make some apple sauce (in a slow cooker...it’s literally 10/10.. if you don’t believe, shame on you).
make an apple pie (easier said than done, but you will impress everyone with all of your baking skills that you learned watching the first season of The Great British Baking Show)
make baked apples (my roomie does this and its amazing, especially when you make it a la mode.. drooling already)
do apple prints (one of my favorite things to do in the fall! Just slice an apple down the middle and use it as a stamp. dip it in paint then on to a canvas. simple, minimalist, natural & diy. who doesn't want that? ...non-hip weirdos, that’s who.. if you were wondering )
just eat them raw (nothing really compares to fresh picked apples.. just eat them straight. like how apples were made to be eaten. adapt. overcome. improvise.)
make a soup with winter/fall squashes (every had apple butternut squash soup? well you should. that is all)
make an apple salad ( slice those bad boys up thin and put them on a bed of spinach with some roasted almonds and maybe some goat cheese... dying)
add them to your cheese plate (apples and cheese is a dying art. help us bring it back. apples with smoked gouda - yeah)
do whatever you want. they're your apples, and no one else’s.
does it bother you that theres only 9 uses instead of 10? me too. help me fix this my commenting your own magic apple uses!
fall is upon us ladies and gentleman, make it count.
xo
