LOCATION WRITING AT A BEACH
This weekend, I slept outside.
For you, the casual reader, this is not an important thing. For most, the response is, "It was FREEZING. are you insane?" No, my friends. I am far from it.
I slept underneath the stars, wrapped up in warm blankets, breathing the fresh air and enjoying the solitude of being away from cities and cars and the rush of life. The pressure. I saw two shooting stars, each miraculous in and of itself, but together? Perfection.
This weekend, I slept outside and enjoyed God's creation. That is more of an adequate explanation. I enjoyed the breeze swinging my hammock. I enjoyed the reflection of the sun rise on the water. I enjoyed the trees and the grass and the very idea of being surrounded by this epic story that is life.
Words really cannot adequately describe this place.
This day is a little piece of perfection, really. The temperature is warm and the shade relaxing. The breeze blows just enough to refresh and not chill. I can enjoy the outdoors, wear shorts, and listen to the birds twittering away in the trees.
Some may not enjoy such out of season weather. But, I cherish it.
The newness of the year is still strong, gently growing more worn on the edges as routines are worked out and the new grounds explored.
I am excited.
In this little nook of this giant library, I hide in front of a brightly lit window. The clouds blow past and the sun shines in. Soft music fills my ears and stress has not worked its way into my very pores.
I am happy.
Classwork is manageable at the moment as we start the motions of learning. It's the wonderful few days where everything is familiar and nothing is hard and expectations are at their very highest.
I will not let them fall.
"Today is going to the be the day that you hear somebody say, 'We need you wide awake.'" "Just So" by Agnes Oble.
These bright windows just keep shining brighter. They're saying "We need you wide awake."
Don't miss a moment of this.
