Storms In The Night That Go Into Days Part 2
Anora had been given a guard and permission to walk the castle grounds. She didn’t try to talk to anyone but they seemed to whisper. She knew they wondered where Asra had gone why she was alone now, why she was dressed and adorned in Gold and why she was being followed by a Kings Guard. She hated all this gossip and noise from people around her. She just wanted to be away from their prying eyes.
She went to the gardens, she needed to think. She needed clear air from the sea. She did not want to be seen, her chest and parts of her neck had marks she could not hide. Usually she would gladly display any mark she had but she did not feel a sense of well anything. She just felt sad, she felt longing for Asra.
When she got to the covered gazebo over looking the sea she sighed. Gripping the edge. She wondered how Asra was, was he safe? Was he being brutalized by Wildlings now? It hurt her heart to think of such things, she had cried so much lately. Again she was crying she sat in a chair and leaned against the edge facing the sea and let the tears fall from her eyes.
She did not hear the approach behind her until the Guard with her moved his armor clinking.
“Lord Valerius.” The Guard spoke and Anora looked up turning to see the man standing there, he looked her over then turned to the guard.
“I cannot my Lord I have orders from the King to watch over the Princess.” He spoke stiffly but Valerius narrowed his eyes.
“Leave us or I will have you thrown into the black cells...” Valerius spoke darkly Anora went to say something but the Guard just glared and left.
Then Valerius turned his eyes on Anora, tears staining her cheeks. He went up to her his eyes softening looking at her.
“Whats wrong?” He asked simply but he feared the answer he had not seen Asra in long time he thought the two had left but when he saw Anora’s white hair in the sun he was shocked to see her alone and in Gold from head to toe and a Kings Guard following her. He feared the worst, and didn’t even dare hope for the best with the evidence in front of him.
Anora opened her mouth then closed it her eyes going to her arms, “I fear what may happen if I say anything my Lord.”
Valerius felt a spike of anger run through him, “Do not fear, I will not endanger you.”
Anora wanted to believe that but she couldn’t be sure, Valerius pulled a chair close and sat grabbing one of her hands looking into her eyes.
“Anora... Tell me, I will not let anyone retaliate against you. You have my word.” Valerius looked at her with most earnest look, he was serious.
Anora wanted to speak but she just started to cry again her head bowing as she sobbed her hand bringing his to her forehead, Valerius felt another pang of anger but also sadness.
“He sent Asra to the wall...” she finally said choking out her words, “He made me a deal to be his lover and send Asra to the wall if I refused he would have put him in the Black Cells and threw away the key! He would’ve died down there I-I couldn’t.” She finally looked up at him, eyes red pain contorted on her face.
Valerius looked at her placing his other hand on her face, “I will do whatever I can to help you, and to get Asra back.” He sounded determined.
Anora sobbed some more she felt hope finally, like she believed what he said. Valerius sent her back to her room to await them calling upon her and to be away from the prying eyes and ears all around them.
He marched his way into the Kings room, Lucerys looking up from his desk when the man stormed in.
“What is the meaning of this?” Lucerys asked narrowing his eyes.
“You idiot, you are complete and utter imbecile!” He yelled slamming his hands on the desk.
“Chose your words wisely Valerius.” Lucerys growled as he stood meeting the other man’s gaze.
“You have the Princess of one of the biggest kingdoms enslaved! What do you think her father will do when he finds out?!” Valerius matched the dark growl Lucerys had spat at him.
“He will come and reclaim his daughter! He will launch an invasion.” Valerius ground out, “You are putting everyone here and Kings Landing in danger the Dornish will show no mercy knowing you have their Princess their Champion.”
Lucerys scoffed, “He wouldn’t dare I have Sun a dragon, that will burn his invasion to dust. And I did not enslave her she accepted the offer.”
“You made her accept by chaining up Asra and telling her he would die otherwise! That is not the foundation to a valid acceptance.” Valerius spat back Lucerys glaring at him.
“I do not have to hear this, get out.” He fumed but Valerius stood his ground. “I said GET OUT.” The golden haired man roared throwing a wine pitcher against the wall his eyes narrowed to slits.
“Fine... Pretend this isn’t happening but I will not! I will not have you endanger the Queen and the rest of the innocent people here.” He stormed out. Leaving an enraged Lucerys in his wake the man promptly proceeding to destroy his room.
Asra hadn’t believed it Julian had actually gotten them out of the woods and now they were skirting roads and trying to stay out of sight.
Julian looked at Asra, “See I got us this far.” He quipped.
Asra rolled his eyes, “Say that when we get a ship and halfway to Dorne.”
Julian shrugged, “I’ll say it when we get the ship too and when we get to Dorne.” He smirked.
Asra again could not roll his eyes hard enough, “I can’t believe I’m stuck with the most confident criminal out here.”
“Oh it wasn’t a compliment, you’re too confident.” Asra responded, “You are gonna get us captured before we even get to Dorne.”
“Ye of little faith, I’m confident because if you act confident then people will believe you.” Julian grinned. “People put power where they think it resides, if you walk into someplace like you own the place people won’t question it.”
“What about the people who do?” Asra asked.
“Then you lie, and you lie until they believe you.”
“So thats it? You just act confident and lie until you get what you want? How do I know you didn’t lie to me?” Asra eyed the man carefully.
“You’d know by now, I would’ve let the other Nights Watch take you while I escaped. But I didn’t I’m being honest when I say I want to help.” Julian looked at Asra trying to convince him. Asra quirked his eyebrow.
“You are by far the strangest man I have ever met.” Asra sighed.
“I will gladly take that title.” Julian smirked.
