About Alex! Template: @savenkey
Iâm a month late for Apprentice April but still would like to answer the last weekâs questions. When that happened I realized how much I wanted to add art with them. So this answers question #9 from the Apprentice April asks #5 Magic. Iâll eventually be answering all of them and some will have artÂ
9. Give us some headcanons of your character with other Arcana characters. Did your character meet them before they died? Were they close?
Muriel: Quetzalli had a fondness for Muriel that was not initially returned. She admired him, at first thinking he was a warrior like herself . They had first met when Quetzalli entered herself to fight in the coliseum in a deal she worked out with Lucio. But as they faced each other, she could read Murielâs unwillingness to fight her. So she adopted an obnoxious, confident, mocking personality, becoming someone Muriel would want to fight (she picked up Lucioâs). For the longest time he didnât know it was an act and so was bitter toward her until Asra had them meet properly in his home. Sheâs fond of Muriel and wishes to coax him out of his shell and embrace the fighting spirit she thinks is in there, hoping to get another fight out of him to recover her dignity (he kicked her ass in the coliseum). She loved combat so at first she didnât quite understand Murielâs reluctance. But eventually she learned who he really was, which brought out her patience and compassion.Â
Lucio: She met Lucio when he arrived to demand a third of Nopalâs cactus crop in exchange for protection. Quetzalli attacked Lucio to show him that Nopal has no need for his protection while sheâs there. As she was subdued by him and his guards, he offered to spare Nopal for now in exchange for her acceptance to fight the Scourge of the South in the coliseum. If she survived sheâd be paid handsomely and since Asraâs late on rent itâs not a bad idea. But she put on a good show in the arena and was impressive with her macuahuitl, displaying beauty and power in a fighting style he had never encountered. Thus Lucio allowed the Scourge to spare her in hopes to see her fight again. She enjoyed the attention of the coliseum and although wouldnât admit it, the attention of the Count. He had a very pretty face okay?Â
I should note that the audience quickly found out that this Annihilator of the North is nowhere near as big as the Scourge of the South as she appears to be in the poster. Sheâs average height among her own people, but quite short in elsewhere so the height difference between her and Muriel would be hilarious. Maybe I should draw what happened when Asra found this poster.
For the apprentice asks 8, 18, 19 if you want
8. Answered in a previous post! đâš
18. Babies?: Honestly, Julith doesn't really want children because she feels like she would be an irresponsible mother;; But she has considered it because she's sure that Muri would love to have some little cubs of his own in the future đ Who knows?? Maybe someday, when they're both settled and ready for it ^^âš
19. Do they stay in Vesuvia?: They stay in Vesuvia for the most part, as Julith still tends to the magic shop + a small tailoring business on the side, and Muriel helps her and Asra by supplying herbs and ingredients from the forest đż. They do, however, have their own little hut in the South, near where the Kokhuri village used to be. They go there whenever they want to take a vacation or just enjoy nature together đžâš
First fanfic is up!
Comments are welcome on improvement or if anyone would like to hear more about Cleo! I hope you enjoy the Muriel fluff!
A Dance To Remember For the Forgotten:
âPleaseeee Muriel?â
â... no.â
âFor me?â
âNoâ
âCome on, itâs just us in here. Indulge me, you might actually have fun!â Cleo drew a fake gasp at the mention of Muriel enjoying himself.
Muriel continued to frown and refused to look at her. Cleo knelt in front of him and gently touched his hands. A small blush formed on his cheeks.
âYouâve been brooding too much and I need a study breakâ
It had been months since the incident were Cleo had learned Murielâs boundaries and theyâd found themselves to actually enjoy each otherâs company. Tonight had started normally enough as they sat quietly in Murielâs chambers, Cleo immersed in her books and Muriel carving away at a piece of wood. Then Cleo grew restless. The nights were peaceful but she longed for something a little more exciting than their usual routine.
Hidden away in their private world inside the palace Muriel began teaching Cleo new types of magic and Cleo encouraged Muriel to talk with her. Slowly theyâd both opened up to each other.
â... fine. If itâll make you happy,â Muriel looked like he was swallowing a bitter pill but he sighed and pulled himself up.
Cleo practically bounced up and excitedly grabbed his hand to pull him to the middle of the room.
âIâll lead since youâve never learned to dance. After though Iâd love for you to give it a shot!â Cleo smiled brightly at Muriel and he almost felt like agreeing to this was worth it just to see her smile like that. Sheâd been smiling more lately but more than that, they were genuine. Muriel noticed she wasnât forcing herself to impress him or pretend that she was okay when she wasnât. Just the thought brought a small smile to his lips and a warm feeling.
Cleo reached up to put her hand on Murielâs shoulder and was thankful that she wore tall heels today. Then she clasped his other hand.
âNow you put your remaining hand on my waist,â she instructed.
Muriel hesitantly complied and his face went a shade darker.
âAnd! 1, 2, 3!â
Cleo and Muriel began to step gently into a waltz. Muriel made every mistake. He stepped on her feet, tripped over his own feet, went the wrong way, and each time Cleo gave him a good-natured laugh and encouraged him to try again.
âRemember to focus on me. Look in my eyes, not at your feet. Pretend I have something on my face or between my teeth if it helps!â
Muriel wondered if she could ever look anything besides perfect.
âNow youâre getting it!â
He was busy thinking about how her light green eyes reminded him of spring.
âAlright now if you want to get advanced you can hold me like this and twiiiiiiirl meâ she giggled.
Muriel was smiling at her having fun. The way her full red lips parted as she laughed was hypnotic.
âOr if I can trust you then you can dip me,â she winked. âYouâll have to support my upper half but you just need to lower me down gently then bring me back up. Want to try?â
Muriel nodded.
âIf you drop me though weâll have a problem,â Cleo faked being serious.
Muriel held onto her like she was made of glass as he brought their bodies down together. She was so close. The tension Muriel had buried felt like a band pulled too tight and threatening to snap.
Cleo saw the look in Murielâs eyes and bit her lip slightly, then she nodded.
Muriel moved his lips down to Cleoâs even more carefully than heâd dipped her. As they met in the middle it was as if the entire room filled with light. For the first time in years, they forgot the problems haunting them.
Muriel wanted to remember the curve of Cleoâs lips and she was more than happy to give him the opportunity. Cleo went slowly so she didnât spook this mountain of a man. She sucked on his lower lip and shivered at the sound of his low moan.
The first kiss was brief and Muriel brought them both back up. The pair continued to look into each otherâs eyes until their heads drew back together naturally.
This time it was Murielâs turn, he parted Cleoâs lips and gave a tentative lick. Cleo responded enthusiastically, entwining her tongue with his. They both clung to each other trying to meld into each other.
Muriel pulled away and laid his forehead against Cleoâs.
âThis crouching canât be easy for you,â Cleo smiled brightly and laughed. Muriel even gave a small chuckle.
âNo, not particularly. Donât worry, I can fix that.â
Cleo let out a squeal as Muriel lifted her into his arms. She wrapped her legs around his waist instinctually.
âWouldnât be so hard if you werenât so short,â the corners of Murielâs smile quirked up in what almost looked like a smirk.
Cleo gave an exaggerated gasp and threw a hand over her heart.
âMy dear Muriel, I do believe that was a joke! Bravo!â
Embarrassment flooded Murielâs face and he quickly turned and set Cleo on the bed before she could tease him more. Then he moved to sit in his usual chair near the bed but Cleo grabbed his hand.
âWould you stay in bed with me tonight? No assumptions or expectations for either of us. I just want to feel you close.â
Cleo pleaded quietly and Muriel found himself drawn in by her gaze. Despite being nearly paralyzed by fear he stiffly laid as far away on the other side as he could. Cleo smiled softly and scooted closer but left him some distance, she knew he was definitely touch starved but also very shy. She would wait.
âThank you, but youâll never sleep if youâre tense like that. I wonât move any closer but youâre welcome to come closer to me if youâd like.â
The soft tone helped relax Murielâs strained shoulders and he turned towards the beautiful woman in his bed. True to her word, Cleo was settling in where she was.
But Muriel had been brave once that night already and he wanted to pretend he really was. Gently he reached out to cup Cleoâs cheek in his hand. She looked so small, so pale, so unmarked next to his callous hand full of scars.
âI donât want to hurt you,â his voice barely reached her ears.
âYou wonâtâ
âWhat if I roll over and crush you?â
âYou wouldnât be the first to tryâ
That brought the small tentative smile back to Murielâs face. That was Cleo. She never let anything hold her back. She was brave. And he wanted to be brave in order to deserve her.
