May I present to everyone my OC Celene!
Some facts about Celene:
She is the 2nd OC I made for The Arcana and is primarily paired with Lucio, and more and more I'm leaning towards them reaching the Reversed Ending.
I paired Celene with Lucio long before I had fully fleshed her out and decided that she's a lesbian, so now I hc Lucio as being transmasc specifically when I pair them together.
Celene's involvement in The Arcana is kind of an AU? She doesn't really fit in with the rest of my OCs (who still need to all be formally introduced) and the cohesive story I'm weaving them into.
Celene is fully shippable either romantically (with non-men) or platonically (or as enemies lol) with your OCs! I'd love to get to know you and your characters more :)
Celene's full bio and backstory is under the cut!

Full Name: High Priestess Celene of the Faith
Meaning of name: The one thing her parents gave her was her name. In my headcanon of the unexplored world map, the theocratic religion of Firent has strong associations and symbology surrounding ethereal beauty, grace, and the moon, and they wanted to give her something that reflected that when they dedicated her to the temple.
Celene eventually takes on the mantle of High Priestess, and all priests and priestesses take the suffix "Of The Faith" when they take their vows.
Family: Raised in a religious convent her family dedicated her to as an infant. Only ever saw one priestess, Mother Agnes, as a familial figure.
Other Names: High Priestess, Her Holiness
Favourite meal: Baked Salmon
Favourite drink: Bitter green tea
Favourite flower: Bluebells
Birthday: February 28
Age: Early forties (game-timeline)
Height: 5'10"
Gender: Cis woman (she/her)
Romantic/Sexual orientation: Lesbian
Zodiac: Pisces Sun/Leo Moon/Scorpio Rising
Patron Arcana: The Moon
⢠Upright: The Moon creates illusions in the dead of night, obscuring truth and casting long shadows.
⢠Reversed: The Moon hangs low and dim in the sky, obscuring the way forward with darkness and confusion.
Appearance: Pictures above!
Languages spoken: Common/Vesuvian, Firent, Prakran, Zadith, Venterran
Hobbies: Reading, hosting grand parties
Magical abilities: (pre-game) Healing magic, can easily cure small cuts and wounds using barely any magic. At her best, Celene has brought many back from the brink of death. She has some telepathy/force magic as well.
(in and post-game) Necromancy relative to her healing abilities before her death. Can easily raise small creatures without half a thought, takes some amount of effort to reanimate humans. They are, however, husks and shells. Celene is horrified by these soulless animations and does not use her warped magic. She still has access to her force magic.
Love Interests: (transmasc*) Lucio
Background: Born in a city in a theocratic Firent, Celene's parents dedicated her to their local temple when she was an infant. She never knew her family, and instead was raised by the temple clergy. There were not many children being raised by the temple, and most of them were orphans whose parents had died and the church had taken them in. Celene always felt like an outcast because of this, and generally did not get along with any of her peers. She instead took a liking to an older priestess, Mother Agnes, and was devastated when she passed when Celene was a teenager.
Celene kept to herself and her studies for much of her youth. She devoted herself to learning the tennants of the faith, even if she did not exactly follow them. The clergy, however, simply saw what she wished them to see: their most devoted pupil. Beginning in her adolescence, she was prepped and groomed to become a priestess. Celene sought power, and aimed to take on the mantle and become High Priestess, no matter the cost.
When Celene turned 18 she took her vows and became a sworm priestess and quickly climbed the ranks of the clergy. She was transferred to the High Temple along with her lover, Amoura, and threw herself into her work. Her efforts did not go unnoticed, and between that and her schemeing, she was able to set herself up to be annointed the youngest High Priestess at the age of 36.
Celene ruled in the name of the goddess for years, ruling Firent with a cruel and uncaring fist. In the end, it was her own lover and consort, Amoura, who was her downfall. Amoura collaborated with outsiders to assassinate Celene, and they succeded: almost. On her deathbed, Celene cried out to any god who would listen. Her prayers were heard and answered, but not by her own goddess. Instead, a god forgotten by humanity, answered her call. In exchange for her memories, Celene would be granted her life. Despterate,
Celene agreed to any terms; so long as this did not end in her death. The god readily agreed.
Celene died, her body burned on the temple steps. Her ashes were scattered into the ocean, having not been deemed worthy of being buried and sent to the holy resting grounds.
A week later, Celene awoke on the shores of Vesuvia, with no memories of her old life. She had only a name, and a false, cloudy memory of a life as a simple witch and shopkeeper. Three years passed before the Countess Nadia would appear on her doorstep, asking for a reading of fate.
For day 3 of @arcana-echoes The Arcana fan event! I'm a little late posting this but we love to do things out of order around here. This post details my OC Celene's magical abilities pre-game, before she died and was brought back to life by The Moon major arcana.
Healing Magic
Celene was still very young when she and the priests learned about her affinity for healing magic. The priests believed that they had been blessed by their Goddess, that she had either sent Celene to them or blessed Celene with these powers for a reason. They worked training her magic into her daily lessons and education.
Celene can easily cure small cuts and wounds, barely using any of her magic reserves to do so. At her very best, she has been able to bring people back from the brink of death. Some say that she has been able to perform true resurrections, although the truth of the matter is that these subjects were not dead by the time they were brought to her. Still, Celene saw the rumors as a potential boon to her reputation, and did nothing to quell them from spreading.
Celene developed an uneasy internal relationship with her healing magic. She knew the good it could do, knew the value these abilities lent her, and yet the pressure from the clergy to perform did weigh on her, and she developed a resentment for her magic, despite knowing it was what made her stand out from the other pupils and later other priestesses. Celene's healing magic, her reputation because of it, and the clergy's belief that she was blessed by their goddess were all heavily influential in Celene's ability to rise through the ranks of the temple clergy. There was some well-placed schemeing on her end, as well, but her magic played an undeniable role in earning her the title of High Priestess.
Force Magic
Celene's healing magic was nothing short of divine, but she also wanted a way to defend herself. She didn't bother asking any of her mentors about learning how to use offensive magic, because she knew they would all tell her to continue focusing on her healing magic as it was a gift from the goddess. So Celene taught herself in secret. The only other person who knew she was doing this was Agatha, Celene's friend and later lover.
Celene taught herself how to manipulate the air around her, using it as a forcefield. She can push, shove, knock down, and create barriers. It takes more concentration for her to manipulate this kind of magic than it does her healing abilities, but she became quite adept at this hidden talent of hers over the years she studied it.
Celene's Gateway
Celene's Arcana Gateway is a cave hidden behind a glittering waterfall. Vines with glowing flowers grow along the rockface walls and softly illuminate the spaceous cavern. After Celene first discovered it, she would often escape to the magical gateway to meditate, practice her magic, or just get away from the temple and the others. It was her safe haven, although she never really understood what it was for the longest time. She would sometimes venture past the waterfall or deeper into the cave and find herself in different realms of the Arcana. The one she was most often able to visit was The Moon's Realm, although she mistook the realm as belonging to her goddess. In part that was because The Moon never visited her until Celene found herself on death's door. The Moon appeared before her to answer her prayers, and the two made their deal for her life.
The Moon's Realm is an endless pool of shallow water reflecting the night sky above it. There are no stars hanging in the sky, only the moon, large and overbearning, hanging low on the horizon. The water and the air are both cold, leaving Celene with a chill that lasts for hours after she's been there.
Been thinking about my three favorite babes a lot lately.
It's physically impossible for me to make art or write something down for them but what I can do is make a bunch of mood boards for them. I hope that you get to know them all a little bit more~
In order we have as follows: Ruth, Celene, and then Kassius
If I have to choose just a few, 4, 7, 8, 18 for the OC questions pls uwu
omg Dani thank you for the ask đĽ°đ you know I love talking about my little weirdos
4. Who is the hardest OC to write or create for?
I would have to say probably Celene. She's just so unlike me that everytime I try to write in her voice I feel really cringy lmao like WARNING we've got an EDGELORD over here.
That being said I love cooking up her story and background, it's just that it also happens to be a doozy.
7. What are some of your own interests / traits you've given OCs?
As I answer below Ruth shares a lot of characteristics with me, which makes sense considering her origin. We're very similar personality wise, other than Ruth is an extrovert and I'm not.
I usually end up making my OCs jokesters because I love my own sense of humor. I also tend to give them each a hobby that I share because I like to write about things that I'm already knowledgable and passionate about. I made Kassius a musician, Celene is a book worm (specifically a sucker for romance), Talis loves being in nature, etc. I try to make them unique but still like to give them little parts of myself.
8. Do you give your OCs birthdays? What about astrological signs?
Not yet but I want to. Even if I don't pick exact birthdays I need to give my characters star signs, I just haven't gotten around to it yet.
18. Is there an OC you changed drastically or completely remade later on?
Ohhhhhhhmygod yes. It's kind of embarrassing, but I have to keep reminding myself that this story goes back 10+ years when I was in high school. Ruth is my OG OC she's been through the ringer for real lmao. I was hoping I would get to talk about her history someday, because it's a lot.
So Ruth made her debut in a roleplay chat I was doing in highschool. My self-insert in the RP got cloned, and that clone was also just like me but could turn her body into metal and had a dagger she could pull out from her soul.
Fast forward a couple years and I was writing self-insert fanfiction for the Zelda fandom and in this story I was married to Ganondorf and we had a daughter named Ruth. This is where Ruth started looking like her current self, being half-Gerudo and all.
For the longest time Ruth still didn't have a personality of her own. Whenever I would play a visual novel I would just fill the name in with "Ruth" because she still had my personality but I liked making my characters look like her instead of myself. That is until I started playing The Arcana, and specifically got involved with a group inside that space. I started writing lore, answering asks, making fanart, writing stories, and suddenly Ruth had a brand new personality that was wholly hers.
This is the condensed version, by the way lol there's so much more I could say but I won't suject everyone to pages and pages of more than a decade's worth of backstory.
A list of headcanons for my apprentice Celene about her family (one member in particular) growing up pre-canon
Celeneâs parents lived in Firent, and were both loyal to their nation and devout worshipers of their deity. They were so devout, in fact, that they offered their firstborn as tribute to the temple.Â
As it was, Celene never knew her birth parents. She was dedicated to the temple when she was a baby, and was never given the chance to meet her family as she grew older.
As a child, she used to be very curious and would ask anyone and everyone she could for information about her parents. Unfortunately for her, the only people in the temple who knew her parents werenât willing to talk about them, at least not with her.Â
By the time Celene reached young adulthood, she resented her birth family for abandoning her. Even if she accepted her place in the temple, she always would wonder what her life would be like had her family not given her away as an offering.Â
Since she was raised from infancy within the temple, Celene did develop paternal/child relationships with some of the older clergy.Â
Children that were dedicated to the temple were raised together communally. All of the priests, bishops, clergy, etc. helped lend a hand in tending to and caring for children that were left in the care of the temple.Â
Not many infants arrived at the temple, so the few that were dedicated as babies left the clergy in somewhat of a panic as they tried to find nursemaids or priests who could put aside their duties for a year or two to devote their time and energy to raising the child. But even these babies spent as much time with the other children in the temple as possible.
Celene never felt particularly close with any of the nursemaids or priests who spent their time in the nursery. The closest she ever felt to someone was an elderly bishop named Mother Agnes. Celene thought of her as more of a mother than she did her nursemaid or her own birth mother, and she definitely slipped and called Mother Agnes âmomâ more than once growing up.
In turn, Agnes saw that Celene needed a mother figure in her life, and she took the little girl under her wing. Temple Mothers arenât supposed to have favorites, but...Celene was special. She could make an exception for her.
Mother Agnes didnât join the temple until her middle age. She developed powers as a magician in her early adult years, but didnât even know she had manifested magic until years later.
When Ages discovered that not only she had a knack for magic, but healing magic, she knew she had to somehow use her magic to serve others. She had lived a very humble life and had seen too much suffering to not use her newfound talents to serve the sick and weary.Â
Agnes joined the temple as a healer. She never intended to gain any kind of status or recognition for her efforts, but she was so well-loved for her kindness and generosity that she was given rank and authority within her chapter.Â
Agnes would occasionally travel to different towns, settlements, temples, even other countries to share her talents and heal those who needed it. But as she got older, traveling was a lot harder on her body, so she limited herself to a small area where she stayed at the main temple in Firent, but would make regular visits to anyone in the area who needed her healing.
Celene got to know Agnes from making frequent trips to the infirmary.Â
Celene got into a lot of trouble growing up, and often times injured herself in the process. Thankfully, Agnes was immensely patient with her, and the older woman saw something in Celene that made her stand out to her.
Celene would have done anything for Agnes. She loved her more than anything in the world, and Agnes felt the same for Celene. Agnes didnât have any family of her own, either. But she always felt a motherly love for Celene and saw her more of a daughter than as a pupil or student.Â
When Mother Agnes died in her old age, Celene was devastated. She had been the only person Celene had truly cared about, and her death pushed Celene into a downward spiral that ultimately left her unable to care for others anymore.Â
Oh of course Iâll answer for all of my babes. ;)
17. Whats their go-to safe word?
Ruth: She likes using nonverbal cues when it comes to safe-words. Tapping knuckles on a surface or snapping fingers three times means stop, no questions asked. She personally likes this over an actual word because when sheâs subbing she sometimes can get so lost in the sauce she struggles with words. And a lot of her partners do, too
Celene: She likes words that are a little bit longer, as theyâre harder to mishear for something else. Her personal favorite is âstarlight.âÂ
Kassius: He is of the mind that you have to pick a word youâd never otherwise say in bed. He chose âgrapefruitâ because he canât think of a single scenario that would come up while heâs getting railedÂ
Talis: Didnât understand why âstopâ wasnât a viable choice at first. They wanted to pick something that would be easy to remember, and so they went with âdiscontinueâ or âdesistâ because they mean the same thing but youâd never say them unless you really meant it.
22. Favorite thing/part about sex
Ruth: The intimacy and fun-ness of it. Also why she chooses partners sheâs at least friends with.
Celene: The teasing, flirting, chasing, all of the foreplay before you ever even make it to the bedroom.Â
Kassius: The actual sex itself. Itâs all about that pleasure, babey.
Talis: Aftercare. They love the post-sex cuddling and pillow talk.
23. Least favorite thing/part about sex
Ruth:Â Set-up. She knows the importance of it, and knows how much fun the fruits of her labors is. But setting up makes her impatient and all she wants to do is get to the good stuff.Â
Celene: She knows it happens and that its normal, but she hates falling out of bed. Sheâll laugh it off and move on with life, but she still just really wishes that it wouldnât happen. Ever again.
Kassius: The cleanup. Heâd just as well not do any cleanup if he could get away with it. Most partners of his are not of the same mindset, however, and he feels compelled to help.
Talis: Theyâre always really cold when naked. So unless their partner has a lot of body heat to share or there are a lot of blankets involved, they donât like having clothes 100% off.Â
đ and â for the couples asks? ^^ -- xviii-moon
đ What do you do for your anniversary?Â
Ruth x Julian: They always like to travel for their anniversary, and it canât be a place theyâve been before (at least not together as a couple). Theyâve been known to make it an entire family ordeal and travel with Portia and Mazelinka on the pirate ship as well!
Celene x Lucio: They live fairly busy lives the rest of the year, so they actually like to spend their anniversary just the two of them and their familiars all day to themselves. They donât necessarily âtravel,â but they do go somewhere where they wonât be bothered by anyone for the entire day, whether that means to a small village where no one knows them, or just hanging out in the forest and fields for the day.
âď¸ Whoâs the big spoon? Little spoon?/Whatâs your favorite cuddling position?
Ruth x Julian: If theyâre spooning, Ruth is the big spoon. Their most-frequent cuddling position is one of them sprawled out on top of the other.
Celene x Lucio: They trade off who gets to be the big/little spoon. They enjoy sharing the responsibility.Â
