Decided to go back and tweak some things about him!! I gave him a better matching hand and changed his name because I somehow completely forgot that Anwar’s familiar was named Emilio, so having him named Emil was a little odd!!

Elias was once Lucio’s favorite courtesan and would spend days in the palace with him and Valerius. He would indulge Lucio’s whims but kept him from running amok, and did his best to turn his energy towards more productive things in Vesuvia. Didn’t really work before or during the plague. For a short while before the plague outbreak, he was fully living in the palace but on his outings to see other clients he ended up sparking a romance with Asra.

This in and of itself surprised Elias as he didn’t think he was wired for things like romance, which is what made him such a successful courtesan in the first place. Everything about love is fresh and new to him, and he absolutely delights in it. He knew all about the physical aspects of intimacy but didn’t think he was capable of actual romantic attraction since he sold the fantasy like a commodity. This lead to him being absolutely heartbroken when Asra left when the plague was getting worse and shut down that part of his heart again for a long, long time.

Was a courtesan before his death and returned to it once he got back a semblance of self after being resurrected. His calm personality and love of banter made him popular and rich from his earnings in the brothel. When the madam isn’t around he’s the de facto leader and takes pride in looking after his fellow courtesans. He says has no special reason for choosing his occupation and means it. For him, working in a brothel is no different from any other job.

A single father and absolutely trying his best for his son Ludger. 

He wasn’t intended to be a parent to his son and was simply a donor for an acquaintance/previous client of his. However, he kept some contact with the couple and helped support them financially during the pregnancy. When the plague began in Vesuvia, Ludger’s parents passed away and Elias stepped in to take custody of his son

There’s some distance between the two of them that he’s trying to repair. His child was already 5 when the plague was at it’s worst. By that point, Elias had already contracted the plague and was sent to the Lazaret. From his son’s perspective, one day he just vanished only to return some odd years later with no explanation. He loves his son to death but doesn’t know to explain his situation to him in a way that makes sense to an eight-year-old.

Between training his magic with Asra, working on his relationship with his son, and his work in the evenings, Elias has a creeping sense of exhaustion on him. He doesn’t let it drag him down too much though, as all he wants is for his family to thrive. Also just. Tuck this man in and send him to bed. He’s tired.

He has all of his past memories, except for those that relate directly to his death. He never told Asra how or what it cost him. Or what he had to make a deal with to get them back.
