I like to imagine my apprentice as having a rat familiar. but not like one of those cute domesticated ones, one of the big ones that are nearly 2 feet long and hang around in sewers and subway stations.

they probably found it sick and dying on the side of the road and felt bad, so they magic-ed it healthy and now her name is Jojo and she's a lovely rat familiar that will not hesitate to bite people.

i just love the contrast of my graceful apprentice who has a sparkly half-cape and fancy magic, and then their familiar is just a literal fuckin sewer rat.
