I'm considering maybe also shipping Maris/Valerius in an enemies to lovers kind of way? I never foresaw myself being an MC/Valerius shipper but... for context,

Maris once took a job as one of Valerius's servants just to get a chance to try to talk to him about improving Vesuvia. He'd brush them off in a "what would a peasant know" manner, and he dismissed them when it became annoying. In Nadia's salon he pretends not to remember Maris whatsoever just to offend them, but admits somewhat apologetically later in the heirophant's realm that he did.

And I could see Maris saying something like, "You're kind of cute when you're almost humble."
