Watching the Apprentice Asia winner interview on tv
I saw (probably) the second half of the interview with Jonathan Yabut and I have to say that I understand why he won. The guy has passion, he is smart, he can express himself and he is at the right age to learn and be molded. I agree that his win is also a win for the Filipino people. We keep saying that Filipinos are smart, diligent, and hardworking; I think Jonathan has all three. He is a good representative of our people.Hats off to you sir.
A couple of things did caught my attention. (1) At the end of the interview, he was asked if he was willing to fire Tony Fernandes - if it was needed to save the company. He said 'yes'. I would have expected for someone who has gone through great lengths to be mentored by Tony to say 'no'. If Tony is exactly what he thinks and says he is, he would know when to step down.If Jonathan is really a 'people person', he would value relationships more than money. (2) This guy at the audience made a statement that Jonathan should have verbalized that since he is now the apprentice, he would see to it that more Filipinos would be hired. I do not agree with that. It just shows how much Filipinos have this mentality of accepting handouts. In fact, I think Jonathan should make sure that Filipino applicants get filtered more. There should be no room for mediocrity. I'd rather be working with 10 outstanding Filipinos than 100 mediocre ones.
I hope Jonathan becomes successful being the apprentice. I pray that he does not forget his humble beginnings. I wish he learns the value of relationships over money.
The #ApprenticeAsia Season 01 Episod 09.
Siapakah yang Tony Fernandez pecat dalam episod ke-9 ini?
#AAJon For the Win
I met Apprentice Asia's finalist Jonathan Yabut, or Nate as we fondly call him, back in Globe. We were from the same Management Trainee program in Globe but he was a year ahead of me. He was my assigned "buddy" before and I remembered him giving me useful and competitive tips on how to shine in the program.
Apprentice Asia is on its finale season and he is not allowed to share whether he won or not. But I am just so proud to see him represent the Philippines. If you have worked with Nate or if you know him personally, you just know that he will win this game. He has his ways of getting something he really wants. He is young and energetic but I think he has an old soul that works to his advantage.
If he wins, I knew it.
If he loses, something is just not right but we will be proud just the same.
Go team Philippines. Go #AAJon. You are another addition to Pinoy's Pride.
Ini untuk mereka yang mengikuti rancangan The Apprentce Asia Musim 1. Setiap minggu, ada rakaman yang dimuatkan kat sini. Sekarang ni dah sampai Episod 8. Enjoy!
