Easter Eggs!
These next two weeks the clinic will be full of egg dying, egg hunting, bunny hopping, and lots of springy Easter fun.
I myself have never dyed eggs before but its a great sensory experience. Today we made a variety of various types of eggs using a dying kit. You can use a kit bought at the store or make your own dye at home!
Here are the eggs we made today!
There are endless ways to decorate and design eggs - tye dye, polka dot (use stickers before you dye them and after the dye is dried remove them!), crayon (since they are waxy the dye does not stick to whatever you draw on the egg), etc etc.
You can also make eggs out of KOOL AID!
Boil eggs
Dissolve Kool-aid in 1 cup water (Orange, lime, berry, and strawberry work best)
Add 3 tbsp vinegar
Decorate or dip the eggs in the mix
How to make tye dye eggs:
Materials
A colander
10 hard-boiled white eggs
1/2 cup of white vinegar
Vibrant food coloring (we used McCormick Neon Food Coloring)
Instructions
Place several hard-boiled eggs in a colander in the kitchen sink and splash them with the vinegar.
Drip yellow food coloring on the eggs.
Gently agitate the colander for a few seconds to help the color spread. Let the color set on the eggs for 30 seconds.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 with up to two shades (any more and your colors may get muddy), allowing each to set for 30 seconds.
After the last color has set, give the eggs a light rinse with water and let them drain for a minute or two. Air-dry them on paper towels.
