April is the perfect month for cheap vacations in much of the world because most people prefer tropical holidays in the months ending in March, so you can still find perfect weather combined with lower hotel prices in many fantastic destinations.
Much of Latin America has ideal weather this month, while April is (weirdly) the single hottest month in most of Southeast Asia, so that budget-traveler hot spot is really better avoided until autumn.
Those looking for a cheap beach vacation will have many really good options because even places with scorching weather can be quite bearable if all you are doing is sitting under an oversized umbrella sipping cocktails all day long, with breezes always rolling in.

April in the Cancun area, which also includes Playa del Carmen and the island of Cozumel, is starting to warm up, but at least it’s dry and the ocean breezes are always pleasant. Most of the snowbirds that come to Cancun are already back home by April, so room rates can be very appealing in spite of the perfect weather.
There are some all-inclusives in the Cancun area, and those have great rates this month as well, but most hotels here operate on a pay as you go basis so you can try different restaurants and bars all the time. This is also the best place in the Caribbean for big nightlife, with several huge clubs featuring top DJs and all-you-can-drink deals once you pay the cover charge.

MontegoBayJamaica is closer to the US and Canada than Punta Cana is, so flights into the large and busy Montego Airport are shorter and often cheaper as well. Another small bonus is that everyone you encounter in Jamaica will speak English, which definitely isn’t true in the Dominican Republic or most of the rest of the Caribbean. Montego Bay is home to quite a few top resorts, including many all-inclusives. The town itself is kind of a dud, so it’s best for those who want to book and stay in a large self-contained resort.
If Montego Bay itself doesn’t sound perfect then you might instead consider Negril or Ocho Rios, both of which are about 90 minutes from the same airport and each has a different feel. Ocho Rios is similar to Montego Bay (also with a dud of a main town), and there are many great resorts all along the northern coast. Negril, on the other hand, is the place to go if you want to stay in a smaller beach hotel where you can try different restaurants and bars rather than being stuck in one big place.

As long as you don’t require extreme heat, you won’t find a better month to visit Lima. The daytime temperatures are warm and evening temperatures are mild as well, with virtually no chance of rain. Better still, this is the first month of the off-season for hotels, so prices are low and crowds are down.
Many people visit Lima on their way to Cusco, and this is an ideal month for that town as well, as the rainy season is over and days are still warm. If you want to do the Inca Trail you’ll find it expensive on the train or with a guided tour, but both are very worthwhile anyway.
Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain

This is really here to represent all of the Canary Islands, which have fairly mild weather all year round. Tenerife is the most popular island for English-speaking visitors and April is yet another nice month in this part of the world, though it’s still a bit too cool to sit on the beach most days.
April is technically part of the high season for Tenerife hotels, yet by this time the crowds are thinning out a bit before they pick back up in summer, so this is a good time to get good deals at some of the more desirable places.

April is the first somewhat non-rainy month of the year in Bali, but it’s almost on the equator and that means storms come and go quickly so even when they hit they are rarely a problem. This is also the time of year between the dual high seasons, so hotel prices are at or near their lowest of the year.
The prices listed are for Kuta, Bali, which is the backpacker and surfer area that most people will tell you to avoid, but really almost the whole island is this cheap, except for the purpose-built resort area of Nusa Dua. It’s a good idea to stay in several different parts of Bali on the same trip if you can, but watch out for the traffic, which has gotten horrible in recent years.
