The prompt for #aprillitwrit is for ‘books you love to reread’. I’m not a huge fan of rereading a book. A lot of the magic is already gone. But...what I really, really love is when I get to reread a book that I was asked to beta read. I love to see the way the story changed or how the characters developed more fully. But most of all, it’s the greater sense of confidence that the author has now that they know their book was well received. The beta version is always a bit more tentative or simplistic, but the final is usually like, ‘Wow!’ I got to read Imber by @tyffany.h when it was in beta stage. I can’t wait to read it again! It’s on my TBR for June, when @chelscey and I are planning to read this one together for our monthly Boom! Another new bush is in bloom in the garden. I hope I’m not boring you with all my backyard beauty! Anyway, today’s #aprillitwrit is for MC’s family. I really haven’t spent much time discussing Thomas’ family, and they really don’t have a huge roll to play, at least up through the second book. When the story first began, Thomas’ family was pretty generic. Mom. Dad. Little sister. I hadn’t planned on extending their story past the first book. I guess my readers felt differently though, because there has been some demand for his sister, Julianna, to play a larger roll. She makes an appearance in The Paladin of Panama, and for The Guardian’s Crest her roll will be expanded again. The book pictured is not his full works, nor are any of the works included in the book included in full. They have been compiled in such a way that the publisher believed they would appeal more to a younger audience. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️ I guess I’ll find out when I start reading these to my grandkids.
