Magister Autumnwood:
Per your instruction of April 5th, I have prepared below a summary of my task force’s findings as regards the Primals and the serious danger they pose to Thalassian interests on Draenor.
Strictly speaking, the Botani and their creations are not an immediate threat to the attainment of Sunsworn objectives. Although their goals are truly apocalyptic in scope and consequences (the absorption of all living matter across the known universe into their gestalt consciousness), the likelihood of their attainment is remote due to environmental pressures. The native earth elementals in particular have checked Primal efforts to expand significantly beyond their present ranges in Gorgrond; small colonies of podlings are the only known exception, and current evidence suggests they are not viable for sustained growth. It is highly unlikely that our expeditionary forces will ever see one of these monstrous flora in Talador, much less do battle with them.
However, Primal activity is a significant thorn in the side of our supply train to Liadrin’s troops. As discussed in Magister Bloodsworn’s initial reports to the Spire on landfall, the chaotic fluctuations of mana in Draenic leylines renders it excessively difficult to achieve stable portal transmutation. Reliquary studies indicate this is due to a reduced Titanic influence in the planet’s origination as compared to Azeroth. Regardless of the cause however, we’re unable to transfer all of the resources necessary from Warspear directly. Our logistics must be made whole with shipments from Horde garrisons in Frostfire Ridge - these are subject to frequent harassment and interdiction by Botani raiding parties.
Despite the obvious gains to suppressing these attacks, the Horde is presently unable to respond beyond limited measures due to the risk of personnel infection from prolonged exposure to Primal substances that a campaign would necessarily entail. Celentia Dawnflare’s tragedy (see attached dossier for further details) would have been repeated for other Sin’dorei and allied combatants.
Recent advancements will forestall that dire outcome from manifesting, thanks to the work of the research team commissioned by Magistrix Josabri Bre’ilien. They’ve made breakthroughs in protective equipment for soldiers to safely engage Primal forces, and developed an experimental treatment protocol for spore infestations of varying durations and severities. We believe that even Inquisitor Dawnflare herself can be recovered from the enemy. Furthermore, several exotic compounds have been isolated with remarkable pharmacological value from samples of Primal flora. Assaulting the Primals will yield dividends for both military and civilian purposes.
Tercius, it is in our kingdom’s best interests to crush the Primals for the reasons outlined above. We look to the long-term success of our mission on Draenor, which shall surely be advanced with this insidious foe destroyed.
Magistrix Mariel Solweaver
