Betta Fish: The One That Wants To Be Alone

Betta fishes originally came from water bodies of Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Thailand. They are naturally territorial fish. Keeping them together in one tank is not ideal. Because they will fight with each other. Scale and fin damages can lead to their immediate death. Â And, the most common cause is stress due to fighting.
Betta fish doesn’t get lonely, even if it is alone. But, if you’ll put the fish in a small container,  it will not get a considerable and quality life that it deserves. Experts explain that it’s not a good idea to put betta fish in a small bowl. It would be better to put them in a larger tank. So that the fish can swim happily. Also, betta fish loves hiding places.
Experts suggests that the home of betta fish should have volume of 5 and above gallons. They are also called Siamese Fighting Fish. Their colors are vivid. And, there’s a wide variety of color patterns available. The details of their fins are interesting. Betta fish is a tropical water creature.
It thrives in hot environments.
The ideal temperature is between 24.4 to 27.2 degrees Celsius (76 to 81 degrees Fahrenheit). It’s the same like the requirements for guppy fishes. Betta fish is carnivore. It loves eating insects, mosquito larvae and other small organisms in the water. They can also eat sinking pellets and fish flakes.
Interestingly, betta fish can breath like human.  Because it has lung-like organ. That’s why they are also called “Labyrinth Fish”. They can live even if there’s little amount of oxygen in the water.
Betta fish loves eating. You must regulate the instance of feeding them. It’s recommended to feed them once or twice a day only. If your fish doesn’t eat all of the food you served, the food will just rot in the water and it will be toxic to your pet. When the water becomes cloudy, you’ll be forced to clean the aquarium more frequently. To avoid this, make an estimate and just give the right amount of food that your betta fish can consume.
Male betta fishes are so beautiful. But, it’s sad to know that they cannot live together in one tank. If you insist to have your male betta fish with companions in the aquarium, putting apple snail and guppy fishes will be okay. Everything will be alright. According to expert hobbyists, it’s perfectly fine to put together all female betta fishes only in one tank. They won’t fight with each other since they are not aggressive.
