For the writer asks- “Carnegie: what authors and/or books/stories have inspired you to write or influenced your work?” Or “Notepad: can you write anywhere or do you have to be in a specific place and mood to write?” Or both if you feel like it! (PS: I hope you’re having a good day! ^_^)
Carnegie: What authors and/or books/stories have inspired you to write or influenced your work?
Truthfully? A ton. So many. I started off really writing in the first place around the time I was in middle school, by emulating the style of my favorite author/book/series at the time and imagining how the story would change if there were different characters in different places at different times. I’d do my best to stay true to that author’s style in the process, and over the years I developed my own style by borrowing bits and pieces of what I liked from authors I looked up to and putting my own spin on other things.
My style can change a lot depending on what point-of-view I’m writing from (the way I write in first-person can be SUPER different from how I do it from third-person, whoops xD) and it also kinda depends on what the original source of inspiration is like, whether it was something I came up with myself or something spurred by different material. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Notepad: Can you write anywhere or do you have to be in a specific place and mood to write?
See, for me, the urge to write can strike anywhere regardless of the place, but I also have to be in a specific mood to actually get things out that I like. Sometimes the urge suddenly brings up the mood, sometimes I get in the mood without actually wanting to write (in which case, I just kinda repeatedly visualize the scenario I’m thinking of in my head)– which is why I struggle to really call myself a “writer”, especially here, because I can’t just make myself do it on command or make myself really enjoy doing it if my head just isn’t up for it. :P
Watermelon Sour Candy for the asks! ^_^
Thanks for sending in an ask hun! Your ask is:
Watermelon Sour Candy - What would you wear if you could go to the Emmy Awards and which star would you go with?
Oof, to be honest, I’m not super into the Emmy awards (I actually had to search it to answer this lmao, I’m not American don’t you judge me, you know nothing of Canada I’d wager)
And because of that, I’m not even sure what artist I’d pick. I’m not into many shows or anything/anyone that would still make sense to go to the Emmy’s. I suppose I’d wear a suit and tie, probably with hints of dark green, that would go nicely with my brown hair and the flecks of green in my eyes. Just the normal attire for a dude.
Man, this answer must be so boring lol,
I’ll just say I would go with either:
Ru Paul (because that would be a lot of fun, I mean come on)
Colin Morgan and/or Bradly James [or any cast member of the Merlin series tbh] (They’re all amazing actors and seem like they’d be fun to chat with)
If Alex or Ariel Hirsch are an option, that’d be fun
or, like,
David Tennant ? I’ve always loved his acting and he’s my favourite Doctor.
Ooh, unusual asks! Okay, 14, 37, and 99!
Heya, @aquaticember06! Okay, let’s go:
14: If I could live anywhere in the world, I would live…. in Japan? I mean, I hear it’s beautiful there with the cherry blossoms and peaceful atmosphere, but down in the tropics is nice too…. but I’m a city girl, so… AGH!! SO MANY CHOICES!!!
37: Do I read a lot? Yeah, I kinda do. I just finished this book called “Smart Girls Get What They Want” by Sarah Strohmeyer, and was really great! Although I do like romance novels, I haven’t been able to find any good teenager ones, so…lemme know if you know of any! (I’m also a huge nerd for fantasy books like The Shadowhunters series or The Maze Runner or The Last Dragon Chronicles!)
99. My zodiac sign is Gemini!! Yay, I’m pretty much bipolar when it comes to my personalities!! 😂
Thank you so much for the many questions! It gave me some time to think. Hopefully I’ll receive a few more. 😄
So, random question (that may or may not have been asked already): how does the process for hiring an artist for a commission work? I mean, I understand that everyone's different, but is there a basic system? When does the payment change hands? Will the artist send you a snapshot of their idea, or do you just fly blind until it's done? Do you as the buyer give them the deadline, or do they set the date? How does the process work for you?
Hello!
My process is listed at the bottom of my commission info post: http://incaseyouart.tumblr.com/post/149217079051/commissions-if-you-want
Basically the commissioner gives me their criteria, then I make a simple sketch, and if they approve, they pay me (either half or in full, depending on the piece or circumstances), then as I complete the piece I send them progress shots, giving the commissioner time and space to make revisions. The payment is completed upon receiving the fully finished piece.
So apparently
I hit a quarter to a thousand followers yesterday
And I’m just like
Wow
I have had absolutely no idea for something special when this day came
Which makes sense, because I ALSO didn’t celebrate 100 followers
Because I’m bad thinking of things to do for celebrations like these
So
Imma just gonna leave the top people who have made my experience as a noob on Tumblr freaking amazing and stuff
(Here we go) @elisakou @keeka45 @vanessagirl286 @aquaticember06 @queenofspadesiv @apointlesswriter @jeffiinatheartist @hichigot @tigerlilly16654 @scarlettrosella @artnerd1123 @carelovestuff @art1sty615 @imageswhynot @himesan345 @chibibrachy @dastarofdashow @undersseriesfan (I don’t know why undersseriesfan ‘s tag didn’t show up; I’m pretty sure I spelled it right!)
So ye
I think what I’ll do is make that UnderSwap!Papyrus vote thingy my number one priority (make it real nice and spiffy)
And call that a celebratory piece of work
Yay
Thank you all so much once again, and we’ll see if we can do this kinda thing again at 500 lol
Ris! I hear you’re taking over for a bit? I’ve been hearing lots of good things about you, but I must admit that I feel like I don’t know much about you at all. How about an introduction to kick things off? :3
Ris takes over
