Watched the Arab Cup semifinals game between Tunisia and Egypt at Stadium 974 (named after the Qatar country code and the number of shipping containers used in the construction). This was my fourth Arab Cup game and fourth World Cup stadium to watch a game in. This one is definitely the most unique. The stadium will be dismantled and donated to another country after the World Cup next year. This was by far the most raucous crowd of the tournament as chants and drums were sounding the entire game by both the Egypt and especially the Tunisia side. This is compared to Bahrain vs Oman and Bahrain vs Iraq that had no one at the game. Also for some strange reason, and I will readily admit I’m not a big fan fan of cellphones, Tunisian fans, rather than watch and enjoy the game, were taking photos of their cellphones with different Facebook profile images. Silly. Great ending to the game in the last minute of stoppage time as an Egyptian defender tried to clear a free kick, he scored an own goal.
