My suggestion to anyone who wants to learn or improve their `arabee [Arabic], is to look no further than the Qur'an.
For reading;
Say Bismillaah and ask Allaah to ease things for you.
Begin by trying to read. For ease, use transliteration.
Never use transliteration on its own, but rather have the `arabee and the transliteration next to it. This will help you enunciate each word individually and will help your mind connect the transliterated word with the `arabee word so in the future when you see the word in `arabee, you will read it as is. Properly.
Open an audio file [through youtube or any other source] and listen to a slow recitation with proper tajweed. Repeat after the reciter. This helps with pronunciation.
Write out the ayahs you are reading slowly and focus on each letter. Not only does this improve your writing in `arabee, it also helps immensely in reading the word properly.
The more you read, the less you should allow yourself to look at transliteration. Either slowly or quickly, begin by restricting yourself to less and less of transliteration and more and more of `arabee.
For speaking;
Say Bismillaah and take your time speaking. Most `arabee speakers are very quick but too often the beauty of the language gets eaten up and is not noticed. Take your time when you speak and enunciate your words.
Honestly, nothing helps one speak better `arabee then to read `arabee. Especially form the Book of Allaah. The more you read the Qur'an, the easier I find it for one to speak and speak properly. Plus, you get to speak fus-ha which in of itself is beautiful!
If you come across a word you don't know, learn it and use it that day. Also, make it a habit to use at least 7-13 words you learned from the Qur'an in daily speaking.
For writing;
Say Bismillaah.
To improve on your writing, write the verses [ayaat] you read down. This also helps you memorize the ayaat especially if you rewrite the same aya several times.
When you are reading the Book of Allaah, write down the words you don't know the meaning of several times to not only identify it and define it, but to also help in writing it along with all the letters it contains.
If you have any suggestions, feel free to add them. Have a beautiful day.
