These are from last today year, but I'm riding him today and I'm getting ready to leave for Fall Classic tomorrow! I'll show in 8 classes over the course of 3 days, hunter, halter and showmanship! I'm super excited this is only my second arab association show!

After some videos that are now being circulated (I have to admit I have only watched one, so this is the one I shall be addressing). I just have to say this... Correcting your horse in the show ring is fine, although corrections should really be made whilst schooling, and they should be made in the collecting arena or ideally at home. Corrections should not be viciously shanking backwards followed by a whip, as seen as in one of the videos. The horse in question was listening to the handler pretty attentively and from my point of view as a professional handler I saw no real need for him to be corrected in the first place. I feel the need to address the videos because unfortunately they will continue to give the Halter industry a bad name which it doesn't necessarily withhold. There are bad people in every discipline, remember that. Halter is no exception to the rule, and whilst there are bad people, there are absolutely glorious and valuable people too. The majority of us correct our horses in a sensible and non harmful manner. The majority of us use the whip as a prop, not as a weapon. The majority of us love the bones of these horses and take pride in seeing them mentally happy and physically ready for top Halter competitions worldwide. That is all.
