I cried a hundred years and yet it was not enough because you were light-years away and I remained here and I knew that I would not see you until I myself left too.
Sunne, if you're watching over me, make me less selfless next time.

When you get drafted for the eternal war and you don't even know what you did wrong so you're kind of mad over that so you just decide to make everyone lose.
Massive bomb. Fuck you.
In honor of Pride month. I'm thinking through my lgbtq rep.
Yeah. Rep's solid. Poly, lesbains, gay, demigirl. Straight guy. Bi guy. Bi girl even.
... I don't have trans rep. Damn. Welp, dunno what to do about *that*.
Curable werewolf coming to a store near you soon.......
I ahd some shit about sea dragons int he works in my drafts but I'm tired and I need them out of my hesd for a bit so here goes. More polished post coming NEVER sometime next week maybe
True blooded sea dragons, aka those that have their massive forms, can occationally choose how heavy they are, but it's something you have to actively toggle and only works on/above seawater. Their boats are very reinforced and many seafaring families have way too many contingencies.
Like other species of dragons, and certain inherently incredibly magical species, they can scent mana. It's a sense set in their olfactory glands, abd while it really *is* a seperate sense, it's hard to differentiate them and it's honestly lost knowledge that it's not just sniffing mana.
^ They can do this as a form of telling the achievements of others, lineage, species, magical capabilities, etc. It's said they can tell your morals from simply looking at you, and may grant wishes or settle curses depending on what they see. This is also what (beastial) unicorns do, though unicorns are flighty rather than fighty.
Sea dragons are apex predators, and live for a *long* time. They'll often offer patronage to families or fleets of shorter-lived species for the hell of it.
^ they have a way of passing down memories to their (pureblooded) children, which means regardless of how old a sea dragon is, it's probably at least a little wise, and wiling to put on a front. It's usually difficult to tell how old a serpent is, and they sometimes even forget themselves, due to the memory thing. They grow to massive sizes quickly, then slow down drastically as they mature.
^ they should theoretically know the secrets of the world. They were some of the first species added to the newest edition of Arachneiss, but those memories were phased out in favor of a more natural way, much like how the Goddesses stretch history backwards as time moves forwards to create the illusion that the world is older than it is.
I personally if I was an Arachneissian elf I don't think I'd want to be in a Mana Dead Zone but there is certainly a demographic. The old king from 1500bc needed some magic experts for like diplomacy or whatever so sure why not hire some elves and then those elves stick around. They can brew potions or whatever who cares. There's plenty of forest around for those forest loving freaks. Hell, it's medieval times, the castle itself has lots of greenery.
All this to say I think there was at least one major group that *did* fuck off to Linco for whatever reason and is probably the reason there is literally any variance in species population there.
Also I had a thought earlier regarding acute Mana Poisoning(a little like radiation but less bad kind of) and I think you'd need a professional to help you ngl. It's really difficult to draw out mana from your core at all, and even moreso safely. So it's probably all in all a good thing that it's a pretty rare thing to happen. You gotta fuck something up really bad to get big-time mana poisoned yaknow?
A quick rundown of elves
I really just wanted to talk about elvish. It's midnight idk if it's wuality or ass, might do a pass-over tmrw for grammar and the like. I don't think i got everything across quite right :(
Elves in Arachneiss are roughly as they appear in most media. Magical, somewhat nature-aligned, a bit haughty, and long-living.
Their lifespan consists of three stages:
The youngling stage, where they grow at roughly the pace of an average human until they're ~20.
The "prime" stage, which lasts anywhere between 300 to 500 years on average, where they physically age very slowly(and may sometimes appear to de-age).
and the "end" stage, which lasts anywhere between a single month and 5 years, and is at the end of their lifespan. This is when their innate magic falters in keeping them young. They will (often, not always) appear to age rapidly, and then die. An elf can generally tell when they've hit this stage.
Elves can generally be found everywhere but Mana Dead Zones(the zones often discomfort magically inclined creatures and people), and often in positions of self-proclaimed(or sometimes even real) power, often old. Their most notable tendencies(as a collective. Individuals may vary) lie in tracking ancestry, and the importance of family lines.
There are a few major family lines, often boiled down to Ir, Ri, Fi, and Ai. Ice, Flame, Forest, and Ocean respectively, though there are lesser but still major lines, and offshoots off of these lines.
There is a certain belief that they've been given some divine right by the Goddeuses, especially by the elves themselves, but that's not really true. (This belief has been especially strong in the Ir line, given their inhospitable living conditions. Lune has in truth been ignoring their ceaseless efforts to stay there.)
In recent times, there have been attempts to bolster the elvish lines by accepting hybrids. The Ri line's newest generation, for example, has 1/16th dragon 1/16th kitsune, and more, while being careful to maintain their elvish blood's majority. The Ai line has for generations bred with sea serpents, and the Ir line has in recent times been experimenting with various ideas, such as attempting to integrate Gifts from the MDZ into their main bloodline.
Of the four major families in the modern age, the Fi line has been least concerned about remaining "pure", especially outside of the direct inheritance line. Most outside of the four major families don't care that much for their blood, but elves will often trend towards either fellow elves or other long-living species as life partners regardless due to their lifespan.
Elvish is a verbal and magical language consisting of a few thousand nouns and verbs, and an estimated average of five "streams" of magic surrounding those to expand on and complete the sentences. It's a rather condensed language, and has a completely different set of spoken words depending on where the subject originated/learned to speak from. There are only a few words the remain the same in every region, and those are the truly old ones, like for various animals and natural concepts.
Elves are generally rather cagy about the language, often only speaking it in the company of exclusively elves, and sometimes not even in front of their half-elf children. The attitude towards the language and its exclusivity varies, but the fact remains that it's not widely taught anywhere.
It can't be written down in any practical manner, nor can it be spoken through the phone. There is a written alphabet, technically, but that is mainly for runic magic. Elvish can genuinely not be spoken by someone who can't control their magic.
Some people have likened the sensation of being spoken to in Elvish to Mage Bonds and older translation spells, both of which also use magic to communicate.
Roughly how I imagine it went when Permafrost introduced ways to eat actual food to Finn.
Finn had sixty years to come up with this solution btw and just didn't
