TODAY'S FACT IS
Did you know that the Black House Spider (Badumna insignis) is a common sight in Australian households? They can also be found fairly commonly in New Zealand and Japan. They get quite attached to their homes and females will not leave her web unless absolutely forced to. Their webs will get old and cluttered and messy as they tend to repair them with patchwork and more layers, rather than reconstruct a new home.
While not medically threatening, their venom will hurt if it bites you. Thankfully they are timid and much prefer to run and hide when possible.
