Visiting the Star Gardens on a whim during a night where he simply just couldn’t fall asleep for more than fifteen minutes at a time was an alright decision in the end. Being able to witness the romantic light show of the fireflies in its full glory was an experience, and the general peaceful tranquility of the gardens on a quiet night was comforting.
What wasn’t comforting, however, was the awkward addition of another person in the scene. Amel would have preferred to be alone, but he wasn’t. Initially, he tried to ignore whatever discomfort he had from sitting in silence with a stranger, but such a little thing had grown into a huge distraction from the sparkly creatures’ presentation. Now, rather than admiring the whimsical performance, he was staring (not very subtly) at the stranger sitting not too far away from him.
“…”
What was this person doing, awake at this hour, anyway?
