Hello! I discovered you recentely, and I fell in love with your art style, because it is amazing. Have you done any tutorials or things of the sort?? I'm just starting to draw and I have the feeling that your art will be a huge inspiration

Oh thank you, I’m flattered! Congrats on starting drawing!! It’s a long journey (one that I still feel I have a ton to improve on myself haha) but it’s so rewarding! I haven’t done any tutorials yet, but if there’s anything that you’re particularly curious about/struggle with, send it my way and I just might make a tutorial on that! (and if I don’t end up having time to make a full on tutorial, I’m sure I could give you some tips/direct you to other great tutorials!)

Do you have any sugggestions for someone planning on doing an artist's alley booth at SLCC FanX?

I’ve never personally boothed at FanX, but I have boothed a SLCC (of course, you know that) so I can give a few tips from my experience with that!

Have variety. It can be hard to tell what will sell well, so don’t rely on any one print/fandom/whatever. 

Sell what you love. Don’t draw a bunch of Doctor Who fanart just because it’s popular, draw what you love (and if you love Doctor Who, draw it!). I drew a Trigun fanart a couple years back that sold much better than I expected, because the few Trigun fans that were at the con were excited to see something from the show. It’s pretty easy to tell the difference between a booth where people care about every piece they make and a booth where they drew what they think would sell. 

Make sure you have a good setup for your booth. Pricing needs to be clear, and people need to feel like they know what’s going on when they come up to your booth.

Talk to People! Half the reason for going to the con is to get to meet new people (like meeting you!). Also, people are much more willing to buy from a booth with a nice, conversational artist.

Have fun! Having a booth can be crazy, but it’s also fun! Enjoy it!

I’ve only boothed at SLCC twice, so I’m hardly an expert at cons, but these are just a few tidbits I’ve picked up. I hope this helps!

Hi, I recently saw your fantastic character designs for a young hero who crochets and a queen with a knitting needle and a boy and a leather jacket and a villain in leather. I think it was for a final for a class, but I was wondering if you minded telling me what the story was you'd imagined for all of them? It looked really interesting.

I’m so glad you asked! This is a story I’ve had on the back burner for a while, though admittedly it’s still in it’s early stages story-wise so there’s not a whole lot to tell, not that I’d really want to spoil it anyways! So I’ll just go over the general characters and premise, under the cut. 

The girl with the crochet hook is our main heroine, a regular unsuspecting nerdy teen who finds a mysterious sweater that gives her awesome sweater-related superpowers. She has been called upon by the Sweater Queen as a knight of the sweater lands to protect the land from a great evil.

That evil is the charismatic, stylish, and totally pompous Leather Jacket King.

So with the help of an anti-hero in a leather jacket who can summon rose petals and daggers at will, the heroine goes to save the day! Or try to, at least. 

I haven’t decided what I what to try to do with this story yet (a webcomic? A game? a show?) but there’s the general idea. Hope this was informative!
