Waymond wears glasses, and Evelyn only wears reading glasses. Alpha Evelyn wore glasses—or rather, her portrait does—Alpha Waymond doesn't.
Glasses change your vision, where the light focuses, and what in your field of vision is focused. Alpha Evelyn, the inventor of 'verse jumping, is literally a visionary, yet she failed to see the cost of her vision until it was too late. Like her, Alpha Waymond fails to see even the true scope of the problem. If he fundamentally misunderstands Jobu, how could he possibly fix everything (everywhere, all at once)?
And he doesn't. Waymond saves the day—spectacled spectacular Waymond.
