She’s lost count of everything she was counting up until now; how many bowls of chicken noodle soups she’s choked down within the last 48 hours, the number of tissue boxes she’s managed to plow through since this morning, how many minutes late Riku is -- but she doesn’t particularly mind that numbers have turned ambiguous and messy in her mind. To be honest, she figures it’s probably for the better anyways -- obsessively counting and keeping track and trying to sort meaningless details while battling quite possibly the worst head cold she, or any other living species on this god-forsaken Earth (do extraterrestrials catch colds? Is this the worst cold in the known universe?) has ever experienced is probably not in her best interest. Time spent chasing her thoughts in untidy circles would be better put to use quietly reading a book, or even just… doing nothing.
Gosh though, she’s never really be good at doing nothing.
Kairi is what one would call a busy body -- she grows restless and vaguely anxious at the mere suggestion of stagnancy -- and so it goes against the very grain of who she is to simply just lay in bed and give herself to this pounding headache and stuffy nose. The fact that she’s currently home from school and missing Who Knows What in every single one of her classes is bad enough to begin with (although Sora did promise to fill her in ASAP, so that’s a small comfort) but completely throwing away two whole days to just… lay in bed? Not cool! Unacceptable! She should get up and shower, at the very least!!
Sitting up… is so painful though. She can hardly even lift her head before the room begins to shift this way and that way, swaying with a slow dip akin to that of a fisher’s boat.
And so, with a huff and a couple phlegmy coughs, she allows her body to fall limp, head returning to its prior station at her pillow. “This is stupid,” she mutters to herself as she tugs the blankets up to her chin, begrudgingly accepting defeat even if it does leave a sour taste in her mouth. Hopefully Riku will be here soon, so she can at least have some well needed company to distract her from not only the runnings of her thoughts, but also the sandpaper now lining her throat. He promised to pick up a bottle of much needed cough syrup for her and bring it by after school, so at least she has something to look forward to, right?
A brisk knock at the door startles her just a tad (did he hear her thinking about him?) as she slides her palms along the mattress in blind search of her cell phone. Only opening one eye, she shoots Riku a quick, messy text in the group chat she shares with her friends.
👽 Alien: rik door open 👽 Alien: unlocked come in 👽 Alien: pls. dying
It’s pitiful, a tad cryptic and bound to earn a few laughs from everyone else in the group chat (Sora and Tidus especially) but she can’t bring herself to care about anything but the prospect of cough medicine and the relief that will follow. The click and creak of the door opening echoes throughout the house, up the stairs and into her room and if it didn’t hurt so badly to speak, she’d probably shout down a quick ‘up here!’ but she figures Riku knows she couldn’t be anywhere but in bed anyways and would rather not exacerbate the issue any further. Hopefully once she’s downed some cough medicine she’ll begin to feel a bit more human and will at least be able to hold a short conversation with him. At the very least, she’s glad to hear him take each creaky step up to the second floor as each one means she’s closer to a healthy distraction.
another quick sketch of pepper, arboros and one of the bigger wolf guard babes. he’s actually on the small side compared to the others, more lean and made for endurance running rather than fighting. and the big babes are just.....Bulky Mamas
