There was something oddly familiar about the woman that he couldn't quite pin. He wasn't sure what it was but she gave off a vibe that he couldn't quite explain. She was familiar to him and he didn't know why. She was new around here, apparently she showed promise. What was it about her that gave him a familiar vibe he couldn't quite explain. Approaching her was simple enough and as he moved forwards Brock raised his brow and eyed him up and down.
"Have we met before?"

The phone dropped to the ground, her fiance's voice calling from the speaker. But that wasn't on the redheads mind. That had one track to it now, and that track was her father. With a trembling hand, she jerkily grabbed for her keys; while propelling herself to the door. Her dad. Oh god. Her dad was in the hospital because of her. It was the prospect of her marriage to Dick that had done this. Oh god.
She wasn't sure how she was able to get herself, and her chair into the car then into the hospital. But by the time she got there, she was able to compose herself enough to put the Oracle mask in place. Her eyes were hard as she pushed herself into the hospital, a few random officers mumbling their greetings but she didn't pay any attention. She didn't even look at Dick as she approached the front desk.
"My name is Barbara Gordon, and m-my father, James Gordon was brought here because of a heart attack?"
The nurse nodded and began typing, "I'm sorry miss, but you need to wait for the doctor."
Barbara's expression immediately became pinched and she glared at the women. "No, I'm afraid you don't understand, Nurse Jensen," The redhead snapped with a quick glance at the blonde's name tag. "I need to know how my father is doing and what room he is in, or so help me god, I will figure it on my own. Oh please, don't think I can't do it, lady. I'm the Computer Science professor at Gotham U for nothing." The redhead snarled, unknowingly giving the nurse the Oracle eye. The officers waiting in the room smirked behind their hands, like father like daughter.
The nurse was pale as she nodded, "Room 478." Barbara gave a sharp nod and began her trek to the room, Montoya following a few paces behind her, knowing Barbara the best out of the rookies in the room. As they reached Jim's room, Montoya wordlessly pushed the door open so Babs could push herself in.
The sight of her formidable, stubborn, intimidating as hell father, laying prone on the bed was enough to crack the mask that was Oracle slowly tears began to slide down her cheeks. "Dad..." She breathed pushing herself closer to the bed so she could grasp his hand in between both of hers. "Daddy.." The redhead choked out, "I'm so sorry...Oh god, please wake up..."
When It all falls apart [closed]
She didn't hear the door open and shut behind her. She didn't hear his near-silent foot steps coming toward her. She couldn't even breath. All she could see were the dozen photos spread out in front of her on her desk. All she could hear was the echoing ring of the gunshot, and his manic, high pitched laughter.
She didn't notice the tears streaming down her ashen face. She didn't notice her chest heaving with the effort of trying to get oxygen into her tight lungs. These pictures. They were real. Her dad. Bruce. They confirmed it. Now that she was passed the initial reaction of anger. All she could feel was pain. Phantom pains shot through her spine and legs. Humiliation was a heavy weight in her chest. Dread was there as well. So was shame. It would be different if she had any choice in this, but she didn't. Just like last time.
A sudden weight on her shoulder broke her out of her thoughts, and reflexively, she grabbed for the escrima stick to her left. But as she twisted to swing the weapon, it dropped from her hands upon see who was beside her. The stick hit the floor with a clang but it didn't phase the redhead. All Barbara could see through her blurry gaze was her favorite blue eyes staring back at her. A choked sob-like noise escaped her throat as she leaned forward, reaching for him. "You saw them."
Her broken whisper wasn't a question, it was a statement. Of course he had. Why else would he be here? She was sure someone, Bruce, Stephanie, Tim, someone had called him. Besides her father, who she was not speaking too at this moment, and her little brother, who was never going to know about this if she had anything to say about it. Her fiance was best as calming her down from her hysterical panic attacks.
"Don't push me away, you need me."
"Steph. I'm fine..Jus-Just go on patrol, okay?"
The silent whispers, silent tears [closed]
Horror. Pain. Humiliation. Dread. Anger. Hurt.
Barbara couldn't even describe the emotions that whirled within her. But it felt like whatever what was trying to claw its way out of her. Her chest heaved with her shallow gasps. Tears clouded her eyes, but she didn't dare let them fall. Damn it. She swore. She swore to herself that that damned clown couldn't hurt her anymore.
What was worse, they knew. Her father. Bruce. The two of them knew. They knew. And they didn't tell her. A choked sob escaped her, and her hand suddenly raised, and angerly swept all the photos of herself off the table, sending them into the air before settling on the ground.
The sound of her hitching breath was the only sound echoing in the apartment. But her mind was in overdrive. Who all had access to these photos? Who knew about them? Did Jimmy? Her mother? The Birds? The Justice League? Dick? She could only shake her head vigorously.
The sudden noise of the door opening caused her head to snap up to look into the hallway, a cold, angry mask automatically falling into place. She was going to get to the bottom of this.
Arc update:
So since it’s officially the last day of February, I guess I need to explain my upcoming arc for the month of March.
So. In 1988, The Killing Joke was published. It’s the 26th anniversary. I barely missed the mark of the 25th anniversary last year, making my blog at the end of April. So, I’m gonna do all the stuff this year. I’m gonna try and juggle this with school, so obviously these threads aren’t likely to be finished in March, but I’d like to get them started.
Basically, all I have planned (yet) at least are these:

Regarding memes, I’m basically going to be spamming Babs’ account with memes like “my muse has a nightmare..” etc.
Some may wonder why my Babs isn’t “over” the shooting. And my answer is I don’t know if anyone would be completely “over” it. Moved on to where it doesn’t consume her? Yes. But I think the anniversary would obviously bring anxiety to Barbara concerning the shooting/accident.
If anyone wants to explore this side of Barbara with me, don’t hesitate to contact me. It’s going to happen across all verses. Obviously, like I said. I’m gonna try and juggle this with IRL and school, so it’s gonna be slow. But I really want to explore this side of her.

White Black Page [Closed]
Woosh....Woosh....Woosh...Crack...Woosh...Woosh...Woosh...crack
The air rushing against her ears made a peaceful smile cross her lips, and the crack of the uneven bars as she released from the lower bar to the higher made her heart skip a beat. This is where she belonged in the air. Being up here..It could wash away everything. Her dad publicly forcing Joker to go to Arkham...Her parent's fighting. Her worry over her little brother who was only fifteen. Her relationship with Dick.
Everything was washed away as she swung through the air, doing layouts and handsprings and tricks. It was like breathing to her now. It had been since her mother put her into Gymnastics as a way to cope after the car accident. It was one of the best things that Barbara Ellieen could do for the young girl who was suddenly thrust into their lives.
Crack!
A sharp gasp left her as her hands struggled to grab back a hold of the higher bar, her eyes opening wide as she failed to grasp it. A wordless scream left her as she clenched her eyes shut waiting for impact.

Green eyes snapped open to the glaring white walls of Gotham University Hospital, and the redhead flinched. Immediately feeling the tube down her throat, her fight or flight response kicked in. Her hand that was previously being held by someone..or something jerked out of its grasp, trying to reach up to get the tube out, her other hand grasped around the blanket. At the same moment, her upper back arched in an attempt to cough it out, the beeping that was her heart monitor skyrocketed as her breathing increased. Disoriented, tears began to burn at her eyes. What the hell was going on?
