What sort of music would the characters listen to?

Interesting question! I haven't really thought about it all that much, but here are some general ideas:

Maisie : Not very interested in music. Probably listens to old CDs that her family owns or whatever is on the radio.

Emi: Before coming to Arcadea, she only listened to classical and piano music. After coming to Arcadea, she discovered a variety of music and loves anything upbeat and happy.

Amerie: She likes relaxing, melodic music like ballads, lullabies, and music boxes. Anything she can read or sleep to. She enjoys Emi's piano playing as well.

Soda: He loves all music but especially appreciates unusual, off-beat music with weird time-signatures or stylistic sampling. A music fanatic who introduces the denizens of Arcadea to all sorts of genres.

Morinne: She prefers songs that focus on lyrics or singing ability. She likes to appreciate the artistry of the songwriter/singer. However, she doesn't really understand the 'weird' music Soda likes to listen to.

Citrus: She doesn't really listen to a lot of music, and doesn't have any particular preference. However, she does enjoy humming along to whatever she hears playing.

Jas: He likes a variety of music: alternative, rock, pop, techno, country, oldies, metal, etc. What songs he likes and dislikes depends on his mood at the time. Will give any song/genre a chance.

Quetzal: He doesn't seek out music himself, but he is curious about it and listens to whatever the other Isle Leaders show him. He plays folk songs on his ocarina every once in a while.

ARCADEA Development Updates > Going into 2026

Hello everyone! Hope you all had a great holiday~ This year flew by for me. I can't believe it's already over...

I just wanted to do a quick update on the game's progress since the last one was around a year ago. Since then, I've been working hard on completing the 5th Isle . 

Unfortunately, progress had been slower than expected this year. Not to go into too much detail, but my full-time job has been extremely stressful and brain fog/fatigue has been quite severe. I have started doing physical therapy and taking iron supplements and other vitamins to combat it. Thankfully, I am seeing results, so game dev progression continues on (albeit slowly)!

I'm happy to say that the 5th Isle is finally complete! This was a very difficult part of the game for me to write, so I'm glad it's finally done. I am excited to see what the play testers think of it. (I'll replay it a couple more times before sending it off though...)

The 6th Isle is the final Isle and this will either be the easiest to work on or the hardest depending on my brain. It is the part I've been thinking about the longest (basically a decade now), but executing it is another story. I'll do my best to finish it in a satisfactory way. In my opinion, endings are the most important part of a story,  so I want to do it well!

Once again, I apologize for taking so long and thank you all for your continued patience with me. Working on a project for this long often feels demotivating as time passes and little progress is made, which leads to an endless cycle of increasing demotivation. 

However, at this moment, my motivation is high and I couldn't be more excited to work on ARCADEA in 2026.
