was it genuine? he didn’t know. if love was this, this feeling — well, it wasn’t pleasant, and he’d rather do without it, but it was what he felt. like a constant ache in his chest. it was honestly sickening, made him want to puke half the time — butterflies were nothing to the knot of nerves constantly clenching and unclenching in the pit of his stomach, every time he even so much as thought of her. it had been unplanned, unexpected — not to mention, it was rash. “what do you want from me, shanley?” tone was bitter. the fact that she had put him in this predicament made him resent her, wish they’d never even met. “i don’t exactly understand either.”
