a look of bewilderment. “of course you were wrong.” how could she have made him think she didn’t want that? “i thought you knew.” only maybe it wasn’t quite as obvious as they’d hoped. “i’m...not exactly an expert on this sort of thing. so i guess i didn’t make it clear. but yes, that’s what i wanted.” now? she wasn’t so sure.

“is it me or are these woods really creepy at night?”

“what the actual fuck is wrong with you?” when the door swung open, darcy held up their phone, displaying the messages on the screen with a glare. “why would you send me this? what are you trying to do here?”

they’d probably never been compatible. never mind that their connection had felt like fate, that for a while, kaila had been her best friend. forget all that. except — darcy couldn’t forget it. they’d had something real — hadn’t they? “i just didn’t think you’d move on so… so fast.”

if she had any sense, she’d have insisted on meeting julius in a public place. somewhere crowded but not too crowded, where her cries for help wouldn’t go unanswered should something go awry. it was what a friend would tell her to do, if she had any other friends. but for years, julius had been her closest (and only) confidante, and the thought of meeting him at a coffee shop seemed almost hilariously anticlimactic. still, their heart pounded as they knocked once, twice, then three times on the door, anxiously smoothing down the hem of their dress. she’d hoped it would look sophisticated, sexy — but instead she felt like some sort of ungainly tween who’d raided their mother’s closet to disastrous results. god, she could barely move her arms in the thing. what was she thinking? the door swung open just as they were contemplating turning tail and running back to their car, and their mouth formed a small ‘o’ shape before they could help it. “um. hi. you’re — you’re a lot taller in person.”
@blcssom
“i do have feelings for you.”

“woah — way to sell it!”
