What a great message to receive this morning - the Australian Red Cross Blood Service send these messages out to their donors to let them know where their blood has gone. This is another way to help retain regular donors like myself.
Donating is easy - if you want to donate, visit http://www.donateblood.com.au/ to check if you’re eligible. Once you have determined that you are eligible, you can schedule an appointment online by answering a few simple questions here: https://www.donateblood.com.au/make-appointment or by phone: 131495 - the Blood Service will confirm your appointment a week out then all you need to do is wait till donation day!
Make sure you have something salty and savoury to eat and drink plenty of water prior - you will also need to have identification. This ID can either be a photo card (if you’re donating for the first time) or a Donor ID card (if you have donated before). The whole donation process takes an hour from start to finish and you will receive some refreshments before you leave - ensure you take time to sit in the cool of the donor centre and have these before you leave and make sure to make your next appointment before you go!
