"कबीर परमेश्वर प्रकट दिवस" के अवसर पर सतलोक आश्रम मुंडका (दिल्ली) में संत रामपाल जी महाराज के सान्निध्य में आयोजित शिविर में 103 श्रद्धालुओं ने स्वेच्छा से रक्तदान किया। इस निस्वार्थ सेवा कार्य के माध्यम से मानव कल्याण का संदेश दिया गया।

“Alright darling, just prop your legs up on this chair here and place your arm on the rest.”

I smiled at the nurse and did as she said so nothing would go wrong. I have never donated blood in my 16 years of living, and knowing I could save someone’s life made me feel warm inside. I looked up at Jason, who gave me a comforting nod. Though I hadn’t been feeling well lately, especially since I was on my period, I wanted to get this day over with. 

“Ready? I’ll count down to three. It shouldn’t hurt, you’ll just feel a small pinch okay?” The nurse was soothing me and releasing my worries. 

“I don’t understand why you of all people must do this, sister. There’s millions of civilians already donating blood” Damian scolded. 

“Well you see Damian, just because others are already doing it, that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t too. There are people who fall into accidents everyday, and it’s our job to make sure we can help these doctors get those people the help they need. We have plenty of blood, little one. It doesn’t hurt to share if it means we care save a life, right?” I explained to the young boy, making sure he understood. He looked away and scoffed, but knew I was correct. I chuckled as I felt Bruce place his arm on my shoulder. 

“You’ve become a wonderful person, sweetheart. I’m proud of you for doing this,” Bruce encouraged as I leaned into his touch.

“Hey, you okay big sis?” Tim asked. “You look a bit pale.” His face was painted with concern. I had many plans that morning, leaving me no time to eat. “Yeah, I’m fine, thanks for asking. Just a bit tired,” I reassured. “Well if you feel unwell just let us know, yeah?” Dick made sure I said yes.

My eyelids grew heavy as black dots began to fill in the corners of my vision. “Dad,” I called out to see if he was still next to me. “I’m here, you okay?” Without any verbal answer, my head fell forward and fell against Jason’s chest. 

“Kid? You good?”

For people with very rare blood types, obtaining lifesaving blood can be extremely hard. There's a blood type, called Rh-null, which is probably the rarest in the world. By 2010 (since 1961) only 43 people with Rh-null blood had been reported worldwide.

- Rh-null blood is also known as "golden blood" because of its extreme rarity and value³⁴. It is estimated that only 1 in 6 million people have this blood type.

- Rh-null blood has no Rh antigens on the surface of the red blood cells. Rh antigens are proteins that can trigger an immune response if they are foreign to the body. There are more than 600 known Rh antigens, and most people have at least one of them.

- People with Rh-null blood can donate to anyone with a rare blood type within the Rh system, but they can only receive blood from other people with Rh-null blood. This makes it very hard for them to find compatible donors in case of a transfusion.

- People with Rh-null blood may also face health problems such as anemia, jaundice, or fetal loss. This is because their red blood cells are more fragile and prone to hemolysis (breaking down) than normal red blood cells.

- Rh-null blood was first discovered in 1961 in an Aboriginal Australian woman. Since then, only 43 people with this blood type have been reported worldwide. Most of them are from Europe or Africa, and some of them are related to each other.

- Rh-null blood is not only rare but also mysterious. Scientists are still not sure how it originated or why it persists in some populations. Some researchers believe that it may be a result of a genetic mutation or a vestige of an ancient bloodline. 🙏

The policy began in 1992 as an outright ban on gay men donating blood following a blood scandal where some 2,000 people were infected with HIV. Many countries instituted similar donation bans during the Aids epidemic of the 1980s. Experts have found that the bans had little effect, since blood is now systematically screened in advance for viruses such as HIV and Hepatitis B and C. Health Canadalifted restrictions on gay men donating blood, a move Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said was “good news for all Canadians” but had taken too long. As of 30 September, prospective donors will not be asked about their sexual orientation during the screening process but instead about whether they engage in any higher-risk sexual behaviours.
