Chicago archbishop and U.S. EPA in this "fight" together: Take that, climate change!
Opinion: We have a moral obligation on climate change | Chicago. The Most Reverend Blaise Cupich and the head woman of the nation’s whole damn Evironmental Protection Agency, also known as its Employment Prevention Agency, takes us from clean air asthma-protection (who can object to it?) to this: The fight against climate change isn’t a sprint — it’s a marathon. But with continued leadership and…

"This is a pro-life issue." - Archbishop Cupich on the Environment
Archbishop Blase Cupich, with EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy, toured Old St. Mary's School with the media to demonstrate how the Archdiocese of Chicago is becoming better shepherds of the earth.
The Archdiocese of Chicago has partnered with Energy Star, an EPA program, to become the first diocese in the US to benchmark energy, water and emissions of all 2700 buildings.
"While it is a considerable undertaking, we have to set an example that it can be done and must be done if we are to fulfill our sustainability goals. Let’s be honest, this entire effort to protect the environment for future generations will involve some very difficult choices in the future. However, those choices will be less difficult if we all do what we can now to protect our common home." Archbishop Cupich also adds, "We have this earth on loan." It is a moral issue [for the Catholic Church].

Phil Lawler, of Catholic World News, thinks so. A contributor to the Chicago Sun-Times reports that he had a friendly exchange with Archbishop Blaise Cupich on the topic of same-sex marriage, and reproduces large chunks of that exchange for his readers. Naturally the archbishop says that he does not support legal recognition of same-sex marriage. Yet columnist Neil Steinberg observes: “To me,…

Archbishop Cupich's heart bleeds, he likes Obama's exec order
He wants the strong man in the White House to make all things right:
On Sunday, the Chicago Archbishop who has been described as “Pope Francis’s American messenger” praised President Barack Obama’s executive amnesty and expressed concerns about the privacy of illegal immigrants who will be coming out of the shadows.
Archbishop Blase Cupich, who was recently chosen by Pope Francis to lead the…

But there is another movement, not upwards but reaching across, not vertical but horizontal. I hope that I can serve--and the Catholic Church in Chicago can serve--that movement that stretches across boundaries of geography and economies and race and language and culture and way of life to bring people together. I hope that just as we look up and ahead, we will also look across and see each other and then connect with each other. And my prayer, from the beginning of my time in this great city, is that with God's help we can all listen to each other, appreciate each other, and support each other. With God's help and our sincere efforts, we can continue to build a just and peaceable city where all people flourish by keeping our focus on all that God wants of us, but also on the real needs of people.
Archbishop Cupich, proving he is exactly what this city needs
