i love my little rat elementalist sooo much, so this might get long LMAO
He's so small, and so insecure about it, and SO grouchy and grumpy, and will threaten to throw hands with absolutely anybody.
He's not so tough when he's not got his back up of elder dragon-blessed super warriors but, he also wouldn't care much if he got squished flat LMAO.
1a - v recent, but i am infinitely amused by the idea that his dad had a thing w Vloxx after some past drama went down, and gets incessantly bullied about it. (charr is @valynxia)
1b - he is completely smitten with Peitha, and thinks she's like the coolest, prettiest, most graceful person ever. He also thinks nobody else has noticed (everyone has noticed).
2. CAITHE!! Arhk looks at her like a big sister and loves her so much 🥰
idk how much it ruins the meaning of that arc, but I really enjoy my silly hc that he caught her when she dipped with Aurene's egg, and they ended up on that little "heist" together. They were way far out and Ahrk is far too physically frail to have just left alone.
i like thinking Caithe was hesitant to give him her time the v first time they met in LA, he had inquest ties, and was literally a grouchy, hate filled preteen lmao.
He warmed up to the sylvari's tenets though, especially "act with wisdom, but act". Has that sort of "he's an annoying little shit, but he's MY annoying little shit" vibe
Also Aurene ofc, he's has a lot of trouble bonding closely with anyone, but when he and Aurene connected, it was an instantaneous "we are family" vibe. He isn't "the commander", but he IS one of Aurene's champions, and that also further strengthened he and Caithe's bond later on when she was light branded \o/

Ough.
Arhk was fascinated with meteorology initially, but any plans for pursuing research about it got ruined by his lovely siblings. 🥰
His dad, Soko, ended up as an Overseer for a small cell doing research on kralks brand, (he was trying to help his wife before slow brand corruption killed her, but there was too much red tape in the city lol), his sister Ixx got caught funnelling supplies out of Rata Sum to said Inquest cell though, and it marred their entire family permanently.
Arhk is the spitting image of Soko so it was rlly hard to like. Get anywhere, and he inevitably just shrugged and joined Soko in the blazeridges to study elder dragon magic instead lmao.
He was uh. Not liked, though. Too innocent looking, and despite happily throwing hands w the other scientists, he didn't have the heart for the more......intense 'experiments' that involved branding living things, and sometimes people lmao. Ig he fucked up too many times, and eventually became one of them 🥰🥰
I guess he's lucky they were looking more at slow/partial branding rather than that lightning fast kind. Since they did have some success in halting/slowing the crystal growth he survived, but those things had to be surgically removed, and it irrevocibly fucked up the nerves and muscles in his right side 🥰.
Though it wasn't a happy survival, Soko blew a gasket, and had a little rampage when he found out, and broke a few of the computers which regulated their reactors. Saving his son meant fleeing, and losing his wife so yay survivors guilt!!! We love childhood trauma
