Somewhere forgotten a river runs, miles and miles through deserted lands. Sometimes people will wander out there, following it into the wilderness, but none ever return. But legends whisper that somewhere in this lost place is a paradise beyond imagination. If a person were to walk far enough in circles through seas of grass that never seem to end... they might come across, in the distance, walls of blue stone, guarding a City against the claws of death...
City at the End of the World
Ariaselle, the City at the End of the World. Two sets of high walls fence off the City from the outside world, and no one has set foot outside the Outer wall since it was built, not within human memory. The City lacks not in space but to the inhabitants it feels... closed. The population does not exceed five hundred and the people there live simple lives as well as they can. The community is small and almost everyone knows, or knows of, everyone else.
Several main powers and fractions are present within Ariaselle, and most people belong to at least one. The main divide is between two Landowners and their respective followers; the Witch’s familiars and the Gods’ Shrinepriests. A steel rope stretches from North to the South, marking out their territories. Then there are the Duke and his Bluebloods who reign over Ariaselle from the Blueblood mansion, Aquarelle; a rift has always existed between the nobles and the commons’ Rebellion. The only perhaps neutral organisation is the Waterman Guild, whose members control the water supply flowing in from the Silver River...
