Azalin Reviews: Darklord Nathan Timothy

Nathan Timothy, a serial killer hiding behind a mask of congeniality and a werewolf posing as the Captain of a tiny river boat, was the Darklord of Arkandale. Arkandale was later consumed by Verbrek during the Grand Conjunction in 740 BC.
Nathan is a natural werewolf, meaning he was born as such and has no “curse” that can be removed. Many of the Timothy clan are werewolves, but I’ll explore that at a later date when I review his traitorous son.
Born in Mordent, Nathan developed a lust for murder and wandering at an early age. In fact, he foolishly convinced himself that if he continually wandered the lands of the Mists, he would eventually escape them. Not the most strategic plans of escape.
Wherever he roamed, Nathan left a trail of corpses in his wake and eventually our Tormentors created Arkandale and imprisoned him within. His torment was to be confined to a small river boat on the River Musarde. If he ever leaves the river, he weakens until the pain drives him to do nothing but wither on the ground in agony as he waits for someone to drag him back to the river.
This confinement did not seem to bother the werewolf and he was mostly content to stay aboard his small craft. His werewolf pack destroyed any other vessel on the Musarde, allowing Nathan to have a monopoly over the waters and somehow he was able to satisfy his wanderlust by continually traveling along the Musarde’s waters. Perhaps our Tormentors were lacking creativity with this one or he was too far beneath their noticed for them to create a more realistic torment such as a tiny island he cannot leave?
Nathan is very much like any mundane werewolf one may encounter in the Mists, though without their particular aversion to silver. Drag him off that boat of his and he’s helpless. No wonder why the Dark Powers shrugged and took his son instead after the events of the Grand Conjunction. Freed of Arkandale, Nathan continues to wander through the Mists on his river boat. A Darklord who could not be tormented? I will reluctantly grant him 2.5 stars for that feat.
