It's sort of weird for me knowing that Japanee esoteric Buddhism (Mikkyo) is Tantric Buddhism (hence basically Vajrayana) and at the same time I find it hard to find Japanese versions of the classic Tantric embrace imagery (basically something like the yab-yum and other forms of Tantric erotic imagery) besides maybe in the dual form of Kangiten.

There are no weeds in the garden of Tantra. Everything becomes grist for the spiritual mill. This is, in fact, why Vajrayāna is sometimes referred to as the quick path. Why? Well, because everything becomes the path. There's nothing that's not spiritual. There's nothing that's not a skillful means for the path of waking up.

Cultivating equanimity in Vajrayana Buddhism means maintaining a spacious, non-reactive mind amidst the chaos of everyday life. Rather than suppressing emotions, you use tantric methods—like visualizing yourself as a deity or meditating on the Eight Worldly Winds—to directly transform attachment and aversion into enlightened wisdom.
Bring this practice into your daily life using these hyper-specific, actionable steps:
1. Shift the "View" (Lta-ba) Recognize the Void (Empty Nature): When a strong emotion—like anger at a frustrating commute or attachment to a compliment—arises, pause and look directly at its essence. You will find it lacks physical form, location, or solidity.
See Emotions as Play (Rolpa): Vajrayana teaches that emotions are the natural, empty display of your own awareness. Do not grasp onto them or push them away. Let them simply arise and pass like clouds across the vast sky.
2. Transform the Ordinary (Sadhana/Deity Yoga) Pure Perception: Train your mind to see your environment as a sacred mandala and everyone you encounter as an awakened being (Deity Yoga). This automatically dissolves the habit of categorizing people as "friends" or "enemies.
Mantra Recitation as an Anchor: During stressful moments, silently recite a core mantra (e.g., Om Mani Padme Hum). Let the vibration of the mantra interrupt your habitual, reactive thoughts and return your mind to a state of calm.
3. Work with the Eight Worldly Winds: Equanimity is tested by life’s inevitable ups and downs: pleasure/pain, gain/loss, praise/blame, and fame/disrepute.
Drop the Drama: Recognize that these "winds" are impermanent. When praise inflates you or loss frustrates you, label the feeling directly to strip it of its narrative power.
Bring a Sense of Humor: Don't take your spiritual struggles too seriously. If you find yourself getting irritated or attached, view it lightly and playfully let it go.
4. Practice the Four Immeasurables: Equanimity is the bedrock of Bodhicitta (the awakened heart). Dedicate 5 minutes daily to a foundational mental reset: Visualize: Bring to mind a loved one, a neutral stranger, and someone you find difficult.
Affirm: Reflect that all beings share the exact same desire: to be happy and free from suffering. Release bias by silently repeating, "May all beings be free from attachment to the near and aversion to the distant."
Me pareció hermosa la sadhana de Mahakala… llena de profundos simbolismos, protección para nuestro continuo mental… no principalmente de lo externo, sino de lo interno, que es lo más importante e influye toda nuestra realidad… 💓
