(for context, I am a Black American living in the US South, so this is where my opinion originates)

So far, I believe (and please correct me if I'm wrong!) Jabber is the only black Raider. Definitely the only black Frontliner, who he'd come into more regular contact with.

In most, if not all, of my fics, I have Jabber as a Cleaner or Cleaner-adjacent. I do think a big part of that is, of course, ease of access to Zanka. Unfortunately I love soft shit and I do feel it's easier for them to be that way if they don't have to hide it as much.

But I also do really think that Jabber getting to join a place where there's other black people is important. Obviously we don't know the racial situation on the Ground in-universe, amd it does seem to be more divided by Givers and non-Givers as the main dichotomy.

But, I still think him being in close proximity to people who look like him would be important, even if he doesn't realize it. I think that would be a big part of him finding community, and in an AU where he's learning to reconnect with other people in kinder ways, this would be one of the things that sets the Cleaners apart from the Raiders. Especially because two of the 'most important' members are black. They are role models.

Oh, there's people here who don't question how long I spend on my hair. These people don't act confused by some of the phrases I use, or some traditional things I believe in or do (if we are to believe that the world of Gachi is post-apocalyptic of our own world, then some things would probably carry thru word of mouth at least). It would ground him and help him open up, I think.

I done told you to stop being shy and tell me when you’re in need of a fill up.”

Corvus is the type of man you’d wonder why he don’t got no children because he’s so good handling them. His brother’s two nephews would come over to spend the night. “Hey Uncle Corv!” The first one, the bad one named Jay, snotty nosed bandit would greet as he came in with his sticky tablet ready to play but Uncle Corv was made aware he was acting up in school again.

“Hey Jay. Your daddy telling me you been acting up again. Gone head and put that tablet down. Let’s have a talk while you help me feed the chickens outside.”
