The family vacation home is located in a well-liked skiing and hiking destination close to the village of Geilo in Norway and attributes 4 bedrooms, residing and dining, children’s lounge and mezzanine, and an extra annex to accommodate guests. The elongated layout of the lodge follows the all-natural contours of the mountain slope with multiple levels and split living zones. The outcome is a program that produces 3 characteristic split views by means of end walls that are entirely glazed, framing the magnificent scenery.
The kitchen is at the heart of the lodge and provides up a cantilevered glass fibre reinforced concrete bench, anchored by a double sided fireplace that then opens onto the elevated dining room. A 2nd fireplace is superbly suspended in the living space, and niches located in different places of the outer walls give ample seating for relaxation. The primary bedroom opens on to a gable-shaped window, and smaller openings are strategically positioned to offer a lot more glimpses of the beautiful surroundings.
The lodge is a lovely interpretation of standard ski chalets, with large pitched ceilings and timber resources. It’s facade is a silver timber skin that is produced to fade above time to a grey patina which will mix in with its organic surroundings, and the interior walls, floors and ceilings are lined with a knot-free of charge timber. Doors and opening frames are kept concealed by quality detailing.
A luxurious mountain getaway, it perches superbly inside its surroundings.
